The furtherst one back I can think of is the Umbro Trophy, which was against Everton, and possibly even
held at Everton?

Anyone have any good stories/memories?

We had a decent record in those pre season tournaments back then.  Apart from that win up at Goodison, we of course also
won the Makita trophy at WHL in 1993 with Cascarinos hat trick. Think we beat Ajax in the semi and they were also in the one held at the City Ground along with us, Forest and Man Utd. We won that too.  The thing was those those tournaments was they were held over two days so their were loads of us who stayed up in Liverpool and Nottingham for the whole weekend. Was a particularly impressive blues following at Forest, the whole of the Executive Stand Lower.

We were Crap in the Anglo Scottish Cup although it was a good excuse to enjoy the Beer and Sunshine.

We used to play the same team in the Cross-Channel Cup or something like that.  The Chelsea Independent declared in one edition "...and the draw has been made for this year's Cross-Channel Cup - it's Le Harvre vs Chelsea"  which was quite funny as it was only us and them ever in it.

Does anyone know the year of the Forest weekend mentioned by Bovis above?  It was a cracking couple of days and an excellent turnout for Chelsea.  I recall Matthew Harding holding Court in the Bell Pub on the Saturday night buying drinks for anyone who seeemd to walk in. Memory is a bit foggy but I think it was the same year that lebouf and Vialli joined us.  Shame the club choses to promote itself abroad now rather than these tournaments in the UK,  much more fun for us fans.

I went to the Makita tournament at White Hart Lane, got thrown out in the final v Spurs but sneaked back in to see us lift the trophy.

Went to Le Harve away but the 2nd time we played out there, the game was during the 92/93 season & was re-arranged to my 23rd birthday which is also on st Georges day, we had about 4/500 out there, drew 1.1 & won the cup on agg.

We also played at Highbury in a pre-season tournament but didnt do too well, cant remember who else played, think it was Sampdoria?

Just done a bit of checking back because the memories a bit hazy.  The other team in '93 was Lazio (Gazza's return to WHL)
and the other two teams the following year at Highbury were Napoli (who I think beat us in the semi) and Atletico Madrid. The only thing I do remember of that tourney was that Madstock was going on at Finsbury Park up the road the same weekend. The Nottingham one was held in '96 and Goodison Park in '97. I also went on both Le Havre trips (right pish up on the ferry from Portsmouth).  Wern't so many on the first occasion, maybe 250-300. French old bill completely over the top after each game on both trips. We were also involved in the Birra Moretti trophy in 2002 pre-season along with Inter and Juventus. The thing was it was held at Bari, down the other end of Italy from Milan and Turin so we wern't expecting that many to attend. Wrong !! 52,000 packed into the stands with at least 10,000 locked outside.  The home town club wasn't even involved.  The games were only 20 minutes or so each way and we got stuffed by Inter 3-0 then lost on pens to Juve.  Best part of the night for us was when Zola got interviewed pitchside. Massive ovation from the whole stadium.

I can remember us winning the Sir Stanley Rous cup in the mid/late 70s. I think it was us against some Scandinavian part-time teams. No idea which ones.
Googling that cup brings up a You Tube clip of the final between 'Hadley Reserves and Everett Rovers'. Clearly a prestigious event.

Ah Napoli thats right i'd forgot about them, i went to Le Harve on an over night ferry from Pompey, two CFC lads had a tear up with one of em getting sent back to Pompey, i've got some pics from the ferry & the game.

I think a couple of older lads i know from Woking went out to that Birra Moretti trophy, i didnt realise there was such a big crowd.

Anyone have a Wikipedia account? I wouldn't know where to start to be honest.
