José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
This incident reminds me of another one involving Arsenal. I'm not really one to call for people to lose their job and get fined for saying petty things, but Frimpong should have got fined and then fired when he suggested earlier in the season that Wenger doesn't pick him because he was black. That was simply unacceptable. http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/frimpong-warned-on-racist-tweet-8910928.html

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Nah, the initial furore was when he doubted she would know the offside rule. That's when Sky looked into his past and dug up everything else he said.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
I agree, Mourinho's reputation helps him, I don't think he would have said something like that. Unfortunately though, it doesn't take a lot to get people riled up. I still remember when Andy Gray was caught on tape *joking* about the fact the female lineswoman might not know the offside rule, that made the front pages, caused outrage amongst feminist groups and caused Sky to start an inquiry into his past behaviour. I was shocked, it just shows what world we live in now. You just can't joke about things nowadays.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
You're right. I think the relationship between Eto'o and Jose are way too strong for this to have much impact. But I disagree with your quote above, the world we live in now is one of litigation and compensation. It's very touchy-feely and if an office manager implied that an African employee of his might have a fake age, that could easily lead to a lawsuit. Workplace "banter" is dying, you can now get sued for anything. I've seen people get done for far less than that.

I would be laughing if it wasn't so tragic.

You've hit the nail on the head there. There is almost no chance United will win the CL, they just don't have the defence, pure and simple. There are at least 6 teams that would comfortably knock them out.

If you cared deeply enough, you would find posts of mine criticising Wenger. But that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. If you think I'm out of line, there's a "report" button on the lower left hand corner of my posts.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
It's shame you don't own the forum isn't it? Wenger is as dull as ditchwater and yes he can't see clear penalties, what does that have to do with this thread? I would definitely give a **** if he said something similar, now go back to your hole...I don't think you've seen the light of day for a while.

Like I said, if it was a joke, that could be seen as excusable, I didn't listen to the tape so I don't know whether his press conference was an attempt to limit the damage or whether he was sincere. I personally don't find that joke funny in any way shape or form, to compare two vastly different Africans as if they are the same thing and poke fun, that's not something I would do but I can see why he might thought that was funny. That's something you should understand.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
His comments sounded disrespectful to Eto'o to say the least, "32...maybe 35", what is he trying to say? He's got a fake age or I don't care to know how old he is, maybe it was just a joke taken way out of proportion.

Lol thanks for that (!) I would be well chuffed if we broke Mourinho's unbeaten home record to be honest, that would be one of the highlights of the season without question.

The HARDEST fixture you have until April 19th is Arsenal at the Bridge in March 22nd. Even taking into account a few dropped points against lesser sides, the PL is basically over. After April 19th there are only 3 games left, and two of them you face Norwich and Cardiff. There is no way we'll be even close to Chelsea by mid-April. Chelsea's results against the big sides have decided the league, well played by Mourinho.

We'll see about that. The only game you might be drop points until April 12th is the game against Arsenal on March 22. Chelsea are on the home straight whilst the rest are still turning the corner.

I disagree, the table doesn't tell the full story. Arsenal and Chelsea for example might only have a 1 point difference, but in reality Chelsea are up 7 points against Arsenal, you can do the same with the other title contenders. The way Chelsea accumulated their points is by doing a double over City (something no other team will do) and getting good results against United, Liverpool, Arsenal and recently Everton at home. I look at Chelsea's fixtures and all I see are 3-pointers. I haven't ever failed to predict the winner at this stage and Chelsea are clearly going to win.

Liverpool are right in the thick of it now, their form has been pretty good despite having scum players. Title is clearly Chelsea's to lose, they have by far the easiest fixture list.

Pep Guardiola: "Arsenal were much much much better than us for the first 20 minutes. After the red card for their goalkeeper it was another game. "When he is the last man then the referee says penalty and red card. "It is difficult to play when you see nine players in the box. It is not easy, never. But importantly we controlled this situation and played with patience and at the end found the goal. "Last year Bayern had a better result than this evening. It depends on our heads (the second leg)." Top class manager, very honest, I always liked him.

Good Pep interview, agree with him totally.

Bayern were nothing special, we more than matched them 11 v 11, we shoukd have scored first. The gibbs injury and the red card decided the game. Resembled the City-Barca game, even the timing of the goals were practically the same. Eery.

Champions League 2013/14
Dani Alves had a yellow quite early on, Pellegrini should have put on Nasri on the left hand side pretty much immediately, that would have either allowed Nasri free reign (since Alves would be scared to tackle him) or Alves would get sent off. Very very poor decision by Pellegrini to continue with Kolarov, Alves can't defend for his life and would have been sent off if he was up against Nasri for sure.

The club might have been in on it, it reeks of corruption to me. Right now though, Neymar is the face of football corruption, I have never seen such a clear cut corruption case fly over FIFA, they should be ashamed of themselves. Barca should be banned by UEFA.

Champions League 2013/14
Mhmm, Barca are still the best Spanish team today, City would have it easier against Real and Atletico. Sorry, but I couldn't stop myself from saying this: Zenit are never going to beat Dortmund, not even close. I think they have a worse chance of beating Dortmund than we have of beating Bayern, so no chance. Dortmund couldn't even hide their delight with that draw.

Chelsea vs Everton (PL) 22/02/14 KO 12:45 GMT
I might be wrong, but didn't they beat you earlier in the season? Can't see Everton winning at the Bridge though haha, no way Jose. Chelsea victory.

José Mourinho Confirmed as Chelsea Manager!
Well, what do you expect? Mourinho is hollywood in terms of football managers. You really think people are going to sit down at a bar and discuss Arsene "haven't seen it yet" Wenger or David "we went to the byline" Moyes. C'mon.

I don't know what silverware you're referring to but it can't be the major ones like 2010 PL and the FA cup, that was Carlo's team and tactics. And it can't be the CL, that was all Roberto. - Wenger: A Specialist in Failure
