  1. lol you might hate him but he's won two league titles, the fa cup and the CL. Also had some very good seasons including CL runners up and 2nd place finish in the PL. That's nothing to be scoffed at. He's definitely in that tier, but I understand the contempt the people have for him on here lol I'll back away slowly.
  2. He has the potential to be a major success but I honestly don't think he'd suit Chelsea. Anyway, Mourinho and Guardiola are in a league of their own right now, they're A-list. The next tier of managers are the likes of Klopp, Wenger, Ancelotti, Benitez etc. A bit below them are the likes of Simone, Conte etc. I'd rank Laudrup amongst the inexperienced managers but with proven potential such as Blanc.
  3. Yep, the squad isn't really good enough, and they didn't have clinical strikers up front so they created chances but couldn't convert. He had the players well-drilled, they passed United off the pitch for 3 matches this season but they couldn't convert their chances. Even when United won 4-1 against Swansea, the game was actually dominated by Swansea. He deserved to throw them out of the FA cup in the end. He's going to be a massive success in the future, hopefully at Arsenal, but I wouldn't be surprised if he coaches Barca one day.
  4. Laudrup dictates a type of football that isn't well-suited to lower placed teams, he would be a perfect replacement for Wenger. I'd like to see him at Arsenal when Wenger leaves.
  5. Exactly, the work rate of Willian and Matic was unbelievable.
  6. I agree fully. Yaya Toure and Silva threatened to take the game away from Chelsea in the first 20 minutes or so, they were running rings around Matic and Luiz, it looked like another mawling was on the cards. Mourinho played it perfectly, they counter attacked like their lives depended on it. If they just sat around their box, City could have taken the game by half time. Masterclass from Mourinho.
  7. What a manager! That's why I'm a massive Mourinho fan, perfect tactics tonight. I'm honestly shocked that he gave us more respect than he gave City. He gave Man City ZERO respect. That was an unhinged attacking display.
  8. Eh.. why isn't Mandzukic on the poll? He has the biggest chance of coming, in fact it's a no-brainer, he would suit Chelsea perfectly.
  9. Well, perhaps if you understood why Jose's real was being slated, you wouldn't need to ask the question.
  10. A lot of BS about Arsenal floating around today, let's set the record straight: 1. We have zero chance of winning the league, the expectation shouldn't be there in the first place. 2. The players we have unfortunately aren't adequate for the upcoming fixture list so we don't stand a chance in any cup competition this season. Having said that. Liverpool are utter crap, they have a non-existent midfield and their defence is all over the place. We should comfortably beat them at Anfield. I'd be worried if we don't beat them actually.
  11. I would agree, as long as refs aren't as blatantly biased as the ones in la liga.
  12. He's probably the bravest manager in football actually, he just leans into it, it's pretty funny. After the Ramirez-gate he put on a facial expression which basically said "what's the controversy?". And then he went on to say it was blatant penalty. You have to admire his I don't give a **** attitude.
  13. But Mourinho has done exactly that in the past with Inter and Real, in fact he actually boasted about it. As did Pepe. It's straight out of his playbook. I don't see anything wrong with those tactics btw it has worked well for Jose in the past, but for Mourinho to blast West Ham for doing that...well, let's just leave it to Jose to evaluate himself: Mourinho after the Arsenal match: "I think boring is a team that plays at home and cannot score a goal, that's boring. Because you go to your stadium and you fill your stadium, in weather like we had on [Monday], to see victories. There is not a home fan in any club in the world who goes to the stadium and expects his team not to score or win..."
  14. Wenger is feeling zero pressure. Believe it or not, he's not under the pressure to win the league and he's happy to keep it that way. The only time he's feeling under pressure is when it looks as if we might not make top 4, that's when he produces title-winning form.
  15. He does what any premier league player could do, we need a cultured and tactically aware holding player considering the job is to relieve pressure on the defenders, not pile pressure on them. Even in the games we win, it's despite the fact that he's playing. The West Ham game is a case in point. Woeful individual display.
  16. So why does Mertesacker spend 50% of his time in many matches shouting at Arteta to move into space? Have you ever actually seen what happens when the defenders have the ball? 99% of the time Arteta chooses to hide instead of move into SPACE. It's a disgrace at this level. Mertesacker actually abused him openly away at Dortmund in OPEN PLAY.
  17. Well, I would describe Monreal in those terms. Not Arteta, his defending, passing decisions and most important of all positioning is not good enough. There's a reason why he hasn't got a single Spanish national cap. Spain want absolutely nothing to do with him, and that's how we should have treated Arteta as well, definitely should go in the summer, if not this week.
  18. He's far far from solid. He shouldn't really be playing at this level in the first place in all honesty. His worst game was against Napoli away when he was single handedly responsible for our loss. When an American NBC commentator says that Arteta is the worst Arsenal player, that's how you know how bad he is. Even the yanks know.
  19. I agree this match was crying out for Wilshere, but I think it was a tactical choice by Wenger to play Flamini and Arteta sitting deep. Otherwise he could easily have dropped Cazorla deeper alongside Flamini and put in Podolski on the left, something he has done before. It was a tactical error by Wenger, and it would probably have paid off were it not for the fact that Arteta is the worst player in the Arsenal set-up. There's honestly not a single moment in the entire campaign where I thought we could genuinely win the PL. I think we'll finish in 3rd, one place above last year. Of course, if we bring in the likes of Gustavo and Draxler this week, my opinion will obviously change. But Wenger usually doesn't like to put pressure on himself by making big signings so I think he'll play it safe.
  20. I'm very surprised we got a point, we didn't really deserve it. If there's any proof we need to buy a quality holding player and striker it's this match right here. You can't really win the Premier League with Arteta as a holding player, it's just not going to happen. Wenger either needs to get a proper holding player and striker or stfu about title ambitions. You can't have your cake and eat it as well.
  21. I'm in awe myself, it was shocking how quickly they managed to assemble a team capable of carrying the title and blowing United out of the water at Old Trafford and at the Etihad, not many people saw that coming. This was a team that could not get into the top 4 as recently as 2010. And now they're right up there with the best European teams.
  22. Yep, that's one of the biggest reasons. In comparison, City were quite literally nowhere, they were no man's land in the PL, it seemed unthinkable for them to even enter the top 4 let alone win the league itself. Whereas Chelsea's position was much closer to the top. In addition, United and Arsenal were both coincidentally undergoing a major transition. In the case of Arsenal, we were moving to a new stadium for example, so we were in a very unstable position and were not able to spend much in the transfer markets. United brought in younger players to replace their senior players and were also an unpredictable situation. Chelsea took full advantage and swooped to two quick premier league titles. City on the other hand, were trying to compete with a stable Arsenal, stable Chelsea and stable United and a Liverpool team full of CL quality players. It helped City that Liverpool sold much of their good players and their management situation was unpredictable. But in the case of Chelsea and United, they were not just stable but had an incredible financial leverage as well.
  23. I think you're underestimating Atletico's bargaining position. Firsty, Courtois cannot come back, period. He is not a bench player, Cech and him are both world class keepers and neither can play second-fiddle to the other. Secondly, Courtois seems happy and content being with Atletico and thirdly, I very much doubt that clubs are queuing up to offer Chelsea £20+ million for Courtois who- in any other top club looking for a keeper- would not be more than a luxury player.
