Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15
You guys must know some pretty crazy United fans, all the United fans I know including myself are just relieved that we got our first win and that we put some points on the table. Talk of us winning the league is laughable, it's not impossible of course but then it's not very likely either. This season is about strengthening in January, getting top 4 and then getting in more players next summer to then challenge for the title.

Welbeck leaving doesn't inherently bother me, it's just the fact that we're strengthening Arsenal that annoys me. Funnily enough Arsenal fans are pretty down about the deal too. I think there's no question that we've improved our starting line up and squad. How much exactly and and whether the money we spent will be worth it is another question. We'll have to wait and see. I don't think we were ever going to fix all our problems in one window though considering how many we had, and we'll always overpay just because of who we are and how much money we've got. Getting top 4 this season will be difficult but the one big advantage we have is that we've no CL football and we play a lot of the big teams after they've played their CL matches. Lastly I don't have any problems admitting that you guys have done the best business.

Top 4 is going to be: 1. Chelsea. 2. City. Us and Liverpool fighting over 3rd and 4th. Arsenal in 5th.

Hopefully this convinces Van Gaal that we need to sign some defenders and midfielders.

Annoyed we didn't get Vermaelen and for £15M too? HAH! We don't want Arsenal's cast offs, just their best players like RVP =D But in all seriousness, our back line is injury prone enough without adding Vermaelen to it.

Moreno hasn't signed yet and Johnson, Agger, Skrtel and Flanagan are terrible defenders, and while you may knock Jones, Smalling and Evans, they conceded like 10 less goals than your back 4 last season, and that was with Moyes in charge. Even if you do address your defense, which I'm yet to be convinced you have since none of your signings worry me, you've still got to get another striker and probably another CM too.

If Rodgers was such a good manager you would have won the league last season. You really should have. Now you've no Suarez and as 'good' as BR is that's a huge loss. You also have European football to contend with and the fact that you won't be so lucky this season with injuries and all those penalties you got. Seriously, last season was a freak year where literally everything went your way. I mean you got a penalty against us again the other night (Surprise surprise .....) even though Jones touched the ball first, and you still couldn't beat us and that's the worst we've played all preseason. The fact is that your defense is crap, it's even worse than ours which is saying something considering ours is sh*t, you've an aging Gerrard who's only good for slipping, and the amazing Rickie Lambert up front to replace all those goals and assists that Suarez netted you last season. The big difference this season will be that your defense is still sh*t yet you won't have the goals to bail you out, that and your squad will be hammered with injuries like everyone else due to CL football.

@C10TINHO Liverpool are going to get merced next season without Suarez. .We're taking your top 4 spot, rather it was never yours to begin with hence we'll be taking back OUR spot.

He was crap at Cardiff and hasn't really impressed on tour either. Some United fans think he's good because he's got a bit of flair and will run at people etc, but his decision making is poor and he can have all the flair in the world but it doesn't mean jack if he has no end product or doesn't produce the goods, which so far he hasn't. Seems like a waste of £15M to me. I think he's in serious trouble of being shipped out along with the likes of Nani, Anderson and Cleverley.

The most surprising has been Young who for the last few seasons has been a bit sh*t but who has looked like a new player under LVG. This new position as wing back really seems to suit him. Herrera and Fletcher have been doing very well over the entire course of the preseason, the big question is whether they can do it against PL opposition. The game against Liverpool is certainly going to be interesting. Make no mistakes it won't be a friendly, no not at all. The youngster, Tyler Blackett, has looked very good and may mean we might not need to sign anyone for cover. Shaw has been "meh," so far. He hasn't been great but then he hasn't been terribly either. He looks a bit anxious due to the pressure and needs to grow into the role. LVG apparently also said he's not yet fully fit hence the special training regime. He's had a few good runs though. On another note the the link up play between Rooney, Mata and Welbeck has been great. As for those on the other end of the spectrum; Cleverley has been his usual self and if I were him I'd be seriously concerned. The same goes for Nani and Anderson too if we can manage to find a buyer. Not sure about Fellaini yet; his extended break because of the world cup could save his United career.

Starting Line ups: Manchester United: De Gea; M Keane, Jones, Evans, Valencia, Herrera, Fletcher, Young, Mata, Rooney, Welbeck. Subs: Zaha (41) for Welbeck (Injury caution), Young, Evans and Herrera (46) for Shaw, Evans and Cleverley. Valencia, Rooney and Mata (62) for Hernandez, Kagawa and Lingard. Real Madrid: Casillas; Ramos, Pepe, Nacho; Arbeloa, Illarmendi, Alonso, Carvajal; Modric, Bale, Isco. Subs: (Ronaldo 74), (De Tomas 56), Goals: Young (21, 37) Bale (pen - 37), Hernandez (80). Performance: We played very well but it's a preseason friendly so as I've been telling other people, we shouldn't be getting carried away. We still have a lot of work ahead of us to perfect this new system and we also need to bring in a few more signings. The Spanish teams are 2 weeks behind us in terms of fitness too. Still it's better to win than lose and even Madrid's B team is pretty damn good.

Was thinking more the title, it's a long shot, a very very long shot actually but I still think we have a chance however minute.

Then maybe the same will happen for us after getting rid of that goblin, Moyes

Coming from the team that forced out Andre Villas-Boas ...... Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I wasn't aware that were you were born limited how your name can be pronounced and I know he's Portuguese, but Portuguese as a language is incredibly varied and has many influences from different countries and cultures.

Of course the defense is a problem but the bigger problem is our midfield so if we could only address one area I'd rather we sort that out first; our defense will look better with a competent midfield in front of it to shield it. There's still a long way to go in the transfer window though and I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll sort out both.

Midfield is the bigger priority, has been for the last 5 years and still is now.

Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15
It's obvious you don't understand United's true problems. Our problems last season were down to Moyes, the players not playing for him, a lack of confidence, his poor tactics (constantly rotating the squad, especially the CBs so we never had the same line up in 50 odd games + bizarre selections), and his prehistoric training sessions that focused on fitness rather than passing or ball work, the same ones that did RVP in. And yes while we've lost Rio, Vidic and Erva, saying that they're our starters is a bit too much. None of them bar Evra have been consistent starters for us for 2 going on 3 seasons now. Yes it will be a big loss of experience which I hope we will replace, but this isn't the Vidic and Rio of 2008 we've lost. Both are terribly slow and well past their best. As for Arsenal and Liverpool - well Liverpool have just lost their only world class player and are replacing them with mid table squad players at best. They're basically doing a Spurs after Bale went. The lose of Suarez, having to play extra fixtures due to CL and the fact they blew their big chance to win mean they're a lot weaker than last season, and while Arsenal have a great player in Sanchez they've still yet to address their most glaring weakness in not having a proper striker who can score.

I'm disappointed we're losing Evra since he could have taken Shaw under his wing, but if he really is being used to help along the Vidal deal then I won't feel so bad. We definitely do need 2 new CBs since I don't trust our current 3 to stay injury free. Liverpool finished 2nd with their defense though so I'm confident we can get top 4 with the current squad.

His name is Spanish, you pronounce the J in Spanish as a H so his name is Hose not Jose.

Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15
Shaw is a massive improvement on Evra who hasn't been able to defend for the last 2 seasons and Herrera is miles better than any of our current midfielders. LVG is also 10x better than Moyes. People are stupid to underestimate us. I'm not saying we're going to league because I think you guys will, but saying we'll struggle to finish top 4 when Liverpool have just lost Suarez is a bit too much IMO.
-
Following Our Nearest and Dearest Rivals, 2014-15
I think Chelsea will win the league and depending on how things play out I think we could finish either 3rd or 4th (Van Gaal was the most important signing). Sign Vidal though and I think we'll be contending for the title.

To be fair it is a bloody good advert, the music is great. It's always fun seeing the Gooners get hammered even if it is those Scourers doing it.

Remains to be seen whether the up front figure per year (Rumoured to be between £70-100M) will include the full rights or whether it'll be that figure plus a % of merchandise sales. The current deal is £30M up front per year plus a percentage which equals around £50-60M depending on sales and that was over a decade ago, so no wonder the executives want more. I personally feel Nike are stupid for dropping us, they've just lost Arsenal and only have City left in the Premiership, and City can't even sell 200k shirts.
