I think I'm right that the sponsorship deals with betting companies has to stop now for the 26/27 season onwards. There are, I think, 10 PL clubs (West Ham got relegated) currently with betting company sponsors that are all out there looking for new partners. Yet these clowns are still confident of getting a sponsor for 50m-60m. What a load of crap.

I think a major point being overlooked though is why would elite players want to play for a mediocre mid table club in a small ground, that pays low salaries, doesn't compete and cannot make European competition when half of the division has qualified.

Your post is spot on simply because of the juxtaposition of these two aspects. Depression comes in many guises, is real, and isn't selective. Taking drugs and driving, and subsequently losing control and crashing has no underlying rationale that has any merit and trying to establish an underlying motive to curry sympathy for a stupid, self indulgent act at the risk of his own and any one elses life is just wrong, but sadly not unfamiliar in this, frankly, sh*t society that is being created for us all.
