dave122 got a reaction from Walnuts in Vintage Blues pictures and filmGuys, you have made my day,no my year.
What fantastic memories,I started going to home games at around 1978/79.I was 13 at the time and I went to Bishop Ramsey School in Ruislip.
In fact most of my friends at school were Chelsea and by the time we hit the early 80s we had a regular little group of between 10-15 school kids meeting at about 12-00 to travel up to The Bridge and stand in the middle of The Shed. Then a few of us started going to away games,we had the bug big time.
Always remember Cambridge away, walking through those fields trying not to step on cows dung and having the whole ground with Chelsea.City away and Portsmouth away stick out.
My older brother is Cockneymark,he's done a few uploads on youtube.

dave122 got a reaction from nominator in What period was our mob at its peakDoes anyone remember Spurs away one year in the 80s and I think West Hams game was called off and a mob of them turned up and the old bill put them in a little pen behind the goal. Also remember Wednesday away and the train was rammed and we all go off at Chesterfield much to the old bills annoyance.
Those away days in the 80s were something else, the numbers were huge,it was like a Viking invasion every other Saturday.
Man City away when we took 8-10 thousand was one that I will never forget.

dave122 reacted to GarryJones in Vintage Blues pictures and film> How the hell do any of you lot remember so much?
Lots comes from memory.
Some comes from www.statto.com that has every result and league table ever in English football. (And most other countries). It has dates, tables, league positions on any date. You can even look at games played on a particular day. For intance 34 years ago 11th February 1978. http://www.statto.co...ults/1978-02-11 And it has a season progress level indicator that shows how a team moved up or down a league.
For instance us in 80-81
http://www.statto.co...elsea/1980-1981
Then there is this with every teamsheet and goalscorer for every Chelsea match. Goal minutes, names of referees and managers.

For instance
Chelsea (3) 6 Newcastle United (0) 0

dave122 got a reaction from nominator in Vintage Blues pictures and filmNot to forget when Kerry stuck the volley in at the Clock End.Never been to a game like that for atmosphere and sheer numbers.
Does anyone know the attendance that day?
