  1. how about Van Persie, he's available & has already proven himself in the premiership?

this reminds me of Makelele's last minute transfer from Real Madrid, which was rushed through on deadline day with 20 mins to go

here's an update on Neymar: It appears the story of wonderkid Neymar is to take on yet another twist. Influential agent Wagner Ribeiro has told Santos to do the honourable thing and let Neymar join Chelsea in a bid to achieve his dream and become world’s best player. Despite one’s protestations in a news conference on Friday, it was perhaps his agent who revealed a telling blow to Neymar’s Santos future. He confirmed that a meeting took place in New York’s Restaurant between him Neymar’s father and Chelsea representatives. He has confirmed that a meeting between himself, Neymar’s father and Santos is now to take place on Tuesday at Estadio Vila Belmiro, where Santos are to launch their last bid in order to keep the player. However it is expected that both the father and Mr Ribeiro will demand that the player be allowed to leave to achieve his dreams. Ribeiro has claimed that Chelsea are offering an outright €30 million for the player, with Santos guaranteed to receive €21 million for their 60%. The other 40% belongs to a DIS sporting investment consortium. Whilst the buy out clause stands at €35 million and Chelsea’s offer is below that. The argument is that Santos would receive exactly their fair share of 60% of €35 million which is €21 million. DIS Group are likely to receive 3 installments of €4 million. With final price of around £27 million. However this is where it becomes complicated. Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro claimed that Chelsea must pay the sum in full of €35 million. Where as Wagner Ribeiro claims that Santos don’t have a say how much DIS receive for their 40% as long as Santos receive their €21 million. We shall now await Tuesday the 17th of August before finding out more. Neymar will deffinetly miss his game at the weekend against Vitoria which is undoubtedly bound to fuel speculation amongst the British tabloids about the kid’s future. However it will be interesting to see if as expected he will return for his club on Wednesday against Avai after the meeting took place. I am afraid it’s the same as with Ramires – a waiting game. i'm not sure how credible the source is, but it's taken from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A72974712
  4. i absolutely agree with you - Ballsack is far too lazy and slow for our team and continuously loses possession, in addition to this, he earns something like 120K week! it would make far more sense to f@ck him off at the end of the season (along with Balletti and a few more) and use their wages to fund some world class signing... but i have a nasty feeling the club will decide to extend Ballsack's contract
  5. more from the Daily Mail - no new quotes or significant information and it's more or less what we already know. :) i guess they need something to write about. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...nas-Aguero.html Chelsea are closing in on a British record £40million deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero. In the last few days, Chelsea have met representatives of IMG, Aguero’s agents, to discuss a deal that would eclipse the £32.5m Manchester City paid for Robinho in August 2008. Senior Chelsea club officials were involved in the discussions and sufficient progress has been made in the last two weeks for all parties to be confident that the deal will be wrapped up soon. Chelsea have lined up alternatives in case they cannot persuade Atletico to sell. Representatives of Edin Dzeko, Wolfsburg’s Bosnian international striker, flew into London for talks nine days ago. But it is believed Chelsea officials also met counterparts from Atletico on the same day and are determined to make Aguero their big January signing before they learn whether the transfer ban imposed by FIFA over the Gael Kakuta affair is to be upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Personal terms on a four-and-a-half- year contract are all but agreed, and the only major stumbling block which remains is Atletico’s desire to receive a fee which would make the loss of their most popular player more palatable to their fans. Aguero, who replaced Fernando Torres as the darling of the Vicente Calderon Stadium, could be loaned back to the Spanish club for the remainder of the season. Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has made no secret of his admiration for Aguero, not least after the 21-year-old forward scored twice in the Champions League match between the teams in Madrid. With Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka both in their thirties, and the possibility that Chelsea will not be able to sign anyone until the summer of 2011 if their two-window transfer ban is upheld, Aguero is seen as the ideal investment. Aguero’s buy-out clause is about £55m, but Atletico realise nobody will pay that sum in the current financial climate. Chelsea will not be held to ransom, but they are prepared to break the British transfer record. The Argentina international, a likely star of next summer’s World Cup, is engaged to national coach Diego Maradona’s daughter, Giannina, with whom he has a son.
  6. £3M is certainly not a risk and well worth the investment imo - for the short term he could be loaned out to gain some experience. regarding the fee - just to put things in perspective, the figure mentioned by GAIS is less than 3 months worth of Sheva's & Ballack's combined salary!
  7. i agree with that - at the moment he's worth 6M-8M max and shouldn't get anywhere near the quoted 105K week, but... you have to bear in mind we're following Kenyon's business model of paying 200-300% more than market value in transfer fees and then handing out massive contracts. as a result, a year or two later, no other club can afford them and we are forced to loan them out and subsidise their wages. apparently this business model means we should break even next year :D
  8. i disagree with you there - if a player is good enough, within their budget & can improve their squad, then both Taggart & Wenger would be interested. imo Taggart learnt his lesson with Veron back in 2001, unfortunately Roman hasn't.
  9. i've seen him play for quite a few years and while i agree he's good at what he does (in a slow, patient and tactical league - emphasis on the words slow & patient), there is no way he's the type of player we need to win the league - period. i remember how most Chelsea fans were absolutely ecstatic when Sheva & Ballack signed - at the time they were apparently two of the best players in the world weren't they? with Ballack and Sheva, we were supposed to have the league wrapped up by February, but let's not discuss that for now. you mention Deco playing extremely well - hmmm.... I remember two good games from him, however, would that justify 8M and a high salary? i don't think so and it's obvious to me that Pirlo would be a similar singing. i personally would have liked to have seen Diego sign for us (unfortunately Juve won the race) - the type of player we need, young, strong, skillful, hard working, tenacious and an eye for goal - almost reminds me of a certain midfielder we signed back in 2001..
  10. unfortunately the signing of Pirlo can be summarised by "Deco mk II" basically Pirlo's a f'kin waste, a player that will struggle in the premier league and add to that 100K week and you have a typical Kenyon 'shrewd' signing :D no doubt Kenyon will end up paying 15M+ for him and then claim it was a masterstroke. anyway, let's hope he manages to either f'k up the deal or at worst, gets him for <15M, but these illogical signings are starting to worry me (ask yourselves why aren't Taggart or Wenger making these sorts of buys?)
  11. prefer?i think they have to & i'm not so sure about the Mancs making significant signings this summer. you have to remember their annual debit interest payments alone on their debt are in excess of £80M and that's just the interest :o , the debt isn't getting any smaller!!! last year they only managed less than half their repayment and no doubt this will be compounded into their next installment. financially they are foobar'd, unless of course someone like the Man City owners buys them.

whilst i agree entirely with what you're saying and having rated Pato since he signed for Milan back in 07 - you have to remember that we have a totally incompetent bald Manc who will no doubt f*ck up any chance we have of signing him. Unlike other teams, there's no way the bald one will manage to sign a world class player for the right amount (e.g Pato current market value is 20-25M) and i suspect he'll end up signing the 30+ year old Pirlo for 20M+ (no doubt he'll later claim Pirlo's acquisition was a masterstroke - like he did with Deco  ). There's probably a 10% chance the Pato deal could be done, but the bald one would get shafted once more and need to raise at least 40M cash and throw in Drogba or Anelka as part of the deal.

i agree to an extent, but if that dopey Manc clown Kenyon was happy to spend 37.5m euros on a 30 year old Ukrainian - then surely Robhino at 40m euro represents a bargain in Kenyon's world of business.
