  1. My wish list includes Rogers to play the Fernandez role as I'm convinced he has the attributes to match Enzo's contribution plus better all round technique and finishing. This would have to be funded by the sale of Fernandez but I'd do it without hesitation. Yildiz is my preferred left wing target but nearly impossible to get I imagine. Hato to round off the summer incomings would be nice if that can be afforded after the other two moves.
  2. Tickets still available for Sunday's clash of the WSL's top two. https://bit.ly/CFCWvsArsenalTickets
  3. Massive game at the top of the WSL. Arsenal currently sit second, seven points behind us so beating them would all but end their title hopes. Tickets are still on sale: - Buy Women's Tickets | Tickets | Official Site | Chelsea Football Club
  4. I kept a scrapbook of that season with clips of reports and photos from each game. There was a match early in the season where the headline of one report the next day was "Chelsea Champions". I cut that out and pasted it on the cover. Didn't work out the end. Bloody Wolves.
  5. I used to get Shoot plus Scorcher & Score though I'd grown out of the comic by 1977. Used to love it though. Would literally run to the newsagents to get it on Saturday mornings.
  6. Were you on the pitch after the Hull game? Only time I've ever been on the hallowed turf. Kenny Swain and Gary Stanley were almost telepathic at times. Was shocked when Swain was switched to LB by Villa but he was really good at it. Pre crab Butch scored 13 goals that season. Memories. 🙂
  7. Not American in the slightest and not new either. The phrase has been in use since I was a boy and my granddaughter is 19 months old now. 🙂 Seems it must have gone out of fashion with younger people. That's the only explanation for it not being as common as it was.
  8. 7 points. 🙂 I was a white Waller too back in the day.
  9. -2 points if you can't name the player on the left, 2 points for naming the player in the middle, and 5 points for naming the player on the right.
  10. Ah, good so you know now. Quite surprised that you haven't heard it before. It's a very common expression.
  11. Wasn't watching live but have seen it in highlights. Looked a clear foul to me. The player's shin contacts Lavia and THEN he goes over.
  12. Good player.
  13. Sponsorship of the training kit is all that has been announced up to now. My guess however, and it's only a guest, is that this is a toe bin the water situation. I believe separate main sponsors will be the goal. Apparently only 5% of women's team match goers are men's team season ticket holders. Some of the remaining 95% must be main club members, but it would be an ideal situation if match going support for CFCW continues to grow and brings in a whole new Chelsea audience.
  14. Three are doing a stand alone shirt-front sponsorship of the women's team. This is another CFCW specific deal which has been put in place as part of a strategy to boost CFCW's commercial operation. Previously commercial activities around the women's team was handled by the same operation which deals with men's team activities. Now there is a separate operation, with separate staff, dedicated to working on behalf of CFCW. The proof of the pudding will be whether we achieve bigger and better deals using this split commercial team compared to what would have been achieved with the previous unified effort. Of course it is very unlikely that we will ever see the result of in-house analysis of the numbers. So far so good however. A fly in the ointment however is that the head of CFCW's commercial team has been head hunted to lead the commercial operations for the WSL as a whole. The fact that it is Three who are doing this sponsorship is controversial in some quarters. Three obviously became very unpopular among Chelsea fans for their reaction to the sanctions which were imposed on Roman. I think this reaction was a bit misguided to be honest. People could be more understanding of the situation Three were in. They operate in a business where there is a very heavy degree of 'churn' among consumers and the way Roman was being scapegoated made it reasonable for the company to give itself some cover. Interestingly, the club's senior management never criticised Three's behaviour. Instead they made it clear that there was a good relationship with Three, who they never criticised in anyway. Everyone has their own outlook of course but I think people should take notice of this and factor in the fat that, now the dust is settled, working with CFC. This suggests they never had anything against Chelsea and were just team doing what they had to do to protect their shareholders which is something they are legally obliged to do.
  15. I think this is a combination of a Spanish player not being able to express herself as well in English as she might do in Spanish or Catalan, and a media happy to pounce on the word 'dirty' rather than try to present what she meant to say.
  16. Don't believe either will come here.
  17. Of all the people we were linked with last summer, Olise was the one I most wanted us to sign.
  18. Think Bernado Silver. Pretty similar to Palmer's role for us but, with Olise in our lineup, Cole could be redeployed. I fear this is all academic however. If Olise wanted to join he'd have done it last summer. I think he will move, but I don't believe he's coming back to Cobham.
  19. Depends on whether he can start and be a consistent contributor. In my opinion, unless Palmer is counted as a winger, none of our current crop can. I don't have an opinion about Nico Williams but, since I don't think any of our current can cut it, he might at least be worth investigating.
  20. One assist, zero goals in his last seven games. Relevant info, or just one of those blips?
  21. I won't be going to Stamford Bridge today so my ticket for the this game is available. I am essentially offering the ticket for free but only on condition that it is actually used. I will ask anyone requesting the ticket to send me £10 via PayPal but, if you later send me a photo of the game taken from my seat, I will refund the tenner. I paid £21.25 for it but, as a one-off general sale ticket, it would cost £25. It is an e-ticket for the Matthew Harding lower. If anyone is interested just let me know. I will give priority to anyone who has never attended a CFCW game previously.
  22. The club does say, in their announcement about the introduction of 'mobile tickets', that if the trial is successful their hope is eventually to move to 100% mobile tickets.
