  1. They are doing a job on us tonight. For all the money we’ve spent going forward we really do lack imagination in these situations. Callum is the only one who can make something out of nothing right now.
  2. I meant more as in our attacking midfielders. We potentially have 7 to fit 2 positions. I know we have alot of games coming up but 7 of those players are young and ambitious and want to start every game. Mount, Havertz, Werner, CHO, Ziyech, Pulisic, RLC Its a good problem to have and Tuchel seems to handle it well though its still a problem. RLC may get sold or loaned but I think Callum will be the likely one not to feature alot this season unless a few injuries pile up.
  3. Could we see a change in system for Lukaku? Potentially 2 up top with Werner and Havertz/Mount in behind. We are so top heavy in terms of attacking talent and its going to be a tough job for Tuchel to keep people happy.
  4. This worries me a little. In previous seasons we have had Giroud to fall back on. Werner/Havertz as a back up striker doesn’t fill me with confidence against teams who like to sit back. If Lukaku picks up an injury we then we have no natural number 9 to cover. We are quite comfortable in defence now that chalobah is coming through. We need Kante/Lukaku cover.
  5. Though Lukaku is not everyones first choice. Haaland seems out of reach and Kane is not happening. So who else is out there? I think he's just our only option.
  6. I think the problem here is that we can't get rid of the likes of Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Barkley and Bakayoko on the wages they have. I can only see us getting a fee for one of Emerson/Alonso. We are paying for bad recruitment. If we want funds to sign top players then our youth has the most value. Ideally he would of been a good replacement for Silva/Zouma the season after next but you cant blame him if he wants to play consistantly. This also maybe a controversial opinion but I think if we employed Lampard without a ban he would of signed players instead of promoting youth. He knows what its like first hand to be at a club that demands constant success.
  7. I get he has some limitations like his pace but I think we should be looking further forward in terms of what’s costing us games. Kai, Mount, Werner, Ziyech and co numbers were pretty lacklustre in the league for the quality they have. Jorginho was top scorer with 7 goals. We were solid at the back when Tuchel come in and Kante and Jorginho were apart of that. Top 4 finish would been more comfortable if our attacking players turned up more often. If we signed a midfielder it would be to have the quality to cover Kante not Jorginho. As Kantes injuries are catching up with him.
  8. Jorginho is currently undropable for Italy he's so vital to the way they play. He's literally the first name on the teamsheet next to Donnarumma. Sarri, Tuchel, Mancini, Lampard all played him and he's won a number of trophies with us. His italian teammates think he be should in contention for the Ballon Dor and Veratti calls him untouchable. Mancini built his Italian team around him. I dont think anyone has a convincing argument that he's not a quality player. I just think he's not your typical holding midfielder and when things go bad he's the easy scapegoat.
  9. Close to signing for City for 100m apparently.
  10. Don’t want to derail the hakami thread but agreed. We have some amazing young players but let’s not call them world class. There’s a very good chance they will be in a few years. The only world class player we have in my opinion is Kante. He would walk into any team on the planet. Others wouldn’t. We have a team full of potential.
  11. I don’t get the love in for Declan Rice personally. No where near Kante in terms of ability or Jorginho in what he brings to a team. I’d even say he’s not close to Kova. Gilmour has a bright future. Jorginho has his faults but he controls the way we and Italy play. He’s a big part of us winning the champions league. He’s showing his quality right now and proving his doubters wrong. I’m not saying we should not go for him in the future but I don’t think Rice is better than what we have now and certainly doesn’t warrant the fee.
  12. No doubt he'd be incredible but If he smashes our wage structure then that's asking for trouble. He's younger than most of the squad and could be paid twice as much. As a fan it would be great to see him at the club but isn't this just asking for trouble? I guess its the way football is now, Aguero would be worth this much in his Atletico days. He's got an elite mentality and a dick of an agent. If he has that Barca, Madrid dream then he could be off in a few years when his contract runs down. The Donnarumma situation is just an example of how we need to avoid his agent. I still think we'd be incredibly competitive with a different number 9 for a fraction of the fee.
  13. I still think Belotti is the best option that’s currently available. Mourinho is after him. Will likely cost only 20 - 25m. These days that’s not a big risk. He’s a bull upfront. Consistently scores in a poor side and when Torino were good he put in a great season. He’s their captain and has leadership qualities. It will be interesting to see what happens at the Euros. There’s going to be a few lesser big names that will shine and Belotti could be one of them if immobile has a weak start. If we want someone to score 15+ goals a season then he’s a no brainer. This is all if we can’t land someone like Haaland and if Tuchel still doesn’t rate Tammy.
  14. Apparently we are interested in Saul Niguez from Atletico.
  15. I think that's going to be the problem with any Premier League/English striker. We may have to pay over the odds for an Ings/Watkins and you may aswell just keep Tammy. If we can't buy one of the big guns we should likely shop in Europe or just keep what we have. Why buy Watkins for like 60m and sell Tammy for 35 - 40? Doesn't make sense to me.
  16. I said to myself before the game. If Kante turns up we have a chance. He didn’t just turn up. He took over. Incredible player. He may not grab the headlines as he doesn’t play further forward but he’s one of the greatest players we’ve ever had. Give that man the ballon dor.
  17. Unbelievable. Kante, one of our best players ever.
  18. I think we are going to struggle for a top striker this season. I see Lukaku and Haaland staying. Now dortmund have the champions league secured I can just see them selling Sancho only unless a ridiculous offer comes in for Haaland. It makes more sense for them to have him secure CL football for them next season then sell for the clause. Kane I think is a cert for City in my opinion. Instant success that he wants. There's not much left. Which makes me think we would be fools to let Tammy/Giroud go with very limited options. If we do sign someone we need someone with a bit of personality. Michy, Morata both had ability but we need someone in the mould of Tevez and Costa who has more bite. Someone who doesn't go missing. We have a very young and a pretty soft team. We should avoid signing potential which is why I think we could go for someone like a Belotti from Torino as a Giroud/Tammy replace just to cover the position. He's likely one of those who's always been there on the scouting list for a few years and his contract is at a point where they need to sell. Not a huge fee but it covers the position until next season. It's better than signing a 70 million 21 year old then loan them back to where they came from. As for defenders I think it depends on the striker we get. Varane is someone who looks to be leaving Madrid. He's in his prime and it makes sense for us to go for him if we have a chance. Though if we spend big on a striker than that probably makes that unlikely. I struggle to see psg letting go of marquinhos. For midfielders that kid from monaco has been touted and Weigl from Benfica. Rice is too expensive unless we give them Tammy but Moyes pretty much said why would they sell him now they are in Europe. I don't think we're going to have a window like we did last season. The biggest task for the club is to sell players and we have alot to sell. We are very top heavy in attack. Ziyech, Werner, CHO, Mount, Havertz, Pulisic. There's alot of games to play in a football season and Im someone who prefers are strong consistant starting 11. We are going into the final next week and we don't know who's going to play in the front three. I think there's potential one of them could get sold in the window and I only see havertz, werner and mount safe out of those.
  19. Inter have secured investment so I imagine its less likely Lukaku leaves now.
  20. You don't take Jorginho off for a poor 45 mins and leave Gilmour on. He's been good under Tuchel and he's important to the way we play. If you take him off you risk his confidence taking a turn and he's likely going to be important for us in the CL final and the run in. Gilmour is young and has time on his side. He's not starting the CL final, he's playing now because of the fixture congestion and the risk of not injuring Kante. Its not hard to understand the manager picking someone with experience to get them back in the game. I was fully expecting Gilmour to get subbed. The problem was for me that we should of brought a natural number 9 on earlier.
  21. I think the problem is there's not alot of finished articles out there. In terms of age and price. Lukaku, Halaand, Kane? You either spend big on one of those or you risk buying someone like Andrea Belotti who could do it but there's a risk as he hasent had that challenge yet. Though why would you spend 30 - 60m on a striker when you can just stick it out with Tammy? If we dont sign one of the big 3 that I mentioned I dont see us buying a striker next window. Though you do have the you have the Aguero options, 2 year contract and likely on big wages but there's no sizeable fee attatched. I personally don't see us getting Lukaku. I know Inter are in a bad spot finanically but im sure they will look at clearing other assets first and Lukaku seems happy. We do need an out and out number 9 though. We havent replaced Costa.
  22. Its leaving your domestic league behind and having no respect for your rivals. Being apart of this elite group pockets us revenue that the likes of Leciester, Wolves and co will not be able to obtain. It destroys our league. We are currently not a guarentee to have Champions League football, same with Spurs and Arsenal. The arrogance of the club to think we are better than the 14 other clubs in the division and the rest of the EFL and join this selective few is astounding. We deserve to get booted out. There's no defending this.
  23. Which is the problem for me. Why should these clubs have the right to be permenant in this league where the others have to work for it. Everton, Leciester, Napoli, Valencia? All these clubs and some that are struggling financially. We pocket ourselves an extra 400m a year while these clubs dont because they are not seen as an "elite" club. Its astonishing arrogance. We've heard reports of the likes of Madrid and Barcelona rack up debts over the pandemic. This is them saving themselves while not giving a sh*t about the others. The gulf between these clubs and the rest of the league will widen. Look at Arsenal, struggling to compete and have cemented themselves as a mid table table over the last few years. Now they get a financial boost because they are seen as a big club. Same with AC Milan. Dock them all points.
  24. We should get booted out of the champions league and deducted points. To think as a club we have a right to be in this elite group no matter what is a disgrace. It's not even remotely fair to the rest of our league. We pocket 400m a season where the likes of Leciester don't because we are a super club? Rubbish. I feel for players and staff whos hard work could be about to go tits up.
