  1. If you believe parts of the Athletic article you should believe it all.
  2. If Frank had been given time and gone on a run like OGS after his rocky patch, would you still be calling for his head?
  3. If it was a young up-and-coming manager maybe a few. If it was a supposedly experienced manager I think most would be calling for his head. Does that make sense?
  4. As I said before, though, top four and a trophy is a must now. We sacked Frank for a reason so if we do not recover and achieve our aims then it would be utterly pointless. There will be a division in the squad that the new manager will have to work with too between those who liked Frank and those who wanted him out but that is usually the case at most clubs in this situation.
  5. If I was him I’d steer well clear of Celtic - the last thing he needs is further comparisons with Gerrard.
  6. At least Manchester United took down the Moyes ‘chosen one’ banner prior to sacking him!
  7. No but, as I said, it’s hardly showing Frank in a bad light saying he wasn’t backed with the players he wanted so would be an interesting take that the Athletic’s source was someone who wanted him gone.
  8. I’m not sure about that - the Athletic article also states we only signed one player requested by Frank and the rest were not his choices; hardly something which would be disclosed by someone who wanted to show him in a bad light.
  9. Frank’s been sacked after winning three of the last four games.
  10. Anything but top four and a trophy is an utter and complete failure now. We sack the manager because we demand immediate success then we must have immediate success.
  11. I agree - I just can’t see him being in a hurry to come back!
  12. The timing is what gets me - post Manchester City would have made sense but now? We have a key game in less than two days; who’s going to manage us if Tuchel hasn’t had enough time with the players?
  13. “He is an important icon of this great club and his status here remains undiminished. He will always be warmly welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.” I can’t see him being in any hurry to come back. 🙁
  14. Then who’s choosing the targets if not Frank or Marina? Roman himself?
  15. But surely those managers have an input with the DoF and sign players they want; not get a number who they didn’t ask for. Despite being a fantastic prospect the signing of Havertz never made sense at the time and still doesn’t now; maybe he’ll come good under a new boss but the balance of the squad is not right at the moment.
  16. Thanks for posting the breakdown of the Athletic article, MANoWAR. The point which stands out is only one of the six signings brought in were his choice. Looks like his preference was to buy in players with experience in the Premier League. Granovskaia clearly holds the power, if true, up to and including the continued attempts to rehabilitate Kepa. Of course this is dependant on the article being accurate but it feels like Frank is taking the bullet for something which is at least partially her mess.
  17. Why is that an idiotic comment? Even if someone feels the time is right for Frank to leave the last thing they should be doing is celebrating. If they’re a true Chelsea fan, that is.
  18. We used his loyalty against him, in other words. Called him in when the going got tough and no big name wanted the job but ditched him at the first opportunity when money was available to lure someone else.
  19. I have been worried for a while and wondering if it was the moment for change but what an utterly bizarre time to do it. Why give him until now then boot him little more than 48 hours before one of our biggest games of the season? There was a near fortnight’s gap between the shambles at home to City and the Fulham game with a FA Cup match in between to hire and bed in a new manager - the axe should have come then or he should be given more time. The only positive is it has seemingly arrived before too much damage was done to his status as a club legend (not that his managerial career should have had a negative affect anyway) but the whole situation is a mess, especially after what he managed with us last year.
  20. I really wanted it to work for Frank. It isn't going to is it? This is a wake up call and I can't see Roman sticking with this for much longer. We have a FA Cup weekend to get a new boss in.
  21. I assume Zouma must have had a knock as he was missing completely. Would have preferred Tomori and Rudiger if we needed to change both centre backs.
  22. I guessed you put Villa 7 Liverpool 2 as a suggestion that today was a good result?
  23. Knew someone would trot out this excuse - yes, Liverpool only drew against Fulham and West Brom whilst they were drubbed at Villa Park but they’re also six points ahead of us with a game in hand
  24. He’ll just blame the players again. Because the issue is never with him.
