  1. I rang the Elk bar, they said they are showing it and no conditions apart the fact that they are doing their usual trick of shutting after the game to clear up and re-open after.(I'm not sure they have thought through the fact that there could be extra time and pens very well!) Me and some pals are going to the rib shack first then hit the Elk Bar about 6. I don't care if they shut afterwards as I will either be running around the streets with my flag or going home straight after glum! They did say they are expecting it to be busy and will adopt a one out one in policy once full. C'mon Chels!
  2. As tickets are like rocking horse muck and flights astronomical (even though I was in Barca) i've taken the decision to watch in pub in Fulham. Watched last one in the Morrison, which is now not open anymore (it was packed the rafters). Anyone got any ideas of the best pub to go? Any pubs got any strange rules, like any closing their doors early or charging for tickets etc? Some mates have suggested watching in Wimbledon, but want to go somewhere nice and Partisan. So far, booked restaurant for 4pm, now just looking for the best pub! Any info would be greatly received.
  3. So good I posted it twice!
  4. One that always made me chuckle was the Robert Fleck song. To the tune of Yellow Submarine: No.1 was Robert Fleck, No. 2 was Robert Fleck, No. 3 was Robert Fleck (and so on) we all live in a Robert Fleck world, a Robert Fleck world, a Robert Fleck world...
  5. We played QPR in the 90's and were two nill down at half time, if my memory serves me right. Andy Townsend hit a scorcher from 35 yards which crashed in off the bar and then QPR supporting Dennis Wise scored with a overheard kick in like the 94 or 96 minute. We were sitting in with thme as usual, they were not happy I can tell ya. I seem to remember that this was the year that the Police were conficating Celery for being an offensive weapon!
  6. Yeah but he'll also win us a number of free kicks, in the dangerous zones as well!
  7. I'm posting this lads because I had a moment of clarity some time ago just before the game when we spanked Croatia 4-1. I've been watching Don Fabio with a keen eye since he came in and have been mightily impressed with his overall management of the team. (This is coming from a person who thinks England are the laughing stock of top nations for having foriegn managers!). Fabio is setting our side up to play like an Italian team with a specific system and most of the pundits and fans have missed this point. Let me explain: Italian sides tend to set up with a big man upfront and an exceptional talent playing off of him with the freedom to roam whereever they please and do damage to the opposition. The rest of the team have to play a specific role. Look how popular Zlatan Ibrohimovic has been in Italy. He could not hit a barn door with a Banjo, but he has specfic roles to play, his back to the goal playing in others. Look at when he was at Juve, he played in Alex Del Piero. The national side do it with Luca Toni up front. With this in mind Hesky is our big man up front and Fabio has chosen Rooney as the man to cause havoc. It's currenlty working very well at the monent and I personally think we could go very well at the world cup. He has a few problems with this set up however: 1. What to do with Stevie G? He can only afford to give one player freedom in the system and thats been given to Rooney, so can Stevie play a specific containment role? That remains to be seen. 2. Goalkeepers - We are not blessed with good goalies at the mo and he'll stick with James, but at the business end of the market is he good enough? 3. What to do if Heskey gets injured - We are stuffed simple as that. Rooney can be covered by Stevie G or even Joey Cole. He's tried bringing other players in the team i.e. Carlton Cole to play in Heskey's role and noone seems good enough to do it. Certainly Crouch is no target man. The person I think could do it (waiting for the groans) is Kevin Davies. Only problem with this would be the media backlash if he picked him (don't forget it's a specific role and if you ask any defender in the premier who they hate playing against, I bet Davies is up there). 4. And this is the contravertial one, we are far too honest to challenge for trophies. I know people in Britian hate cheats but Maradona was a national hero after world cup 86 and the hand of god. The Brazilians never catigated Rivaldo for his antics against Turkey when the ball hit his Knee and he was down clutching his face. Look at the Italians in the last one against Oz when their No.3 when down in the box with noone hear him? I'm not advocating cheating per say, but this seems to get teams over line sometimes and if Rooney took a suspect dive to get us into the world cup final i'd not blame him and take the victory. It's all about winning you see and I'm sick of being cheated out of games and losing. People say we are respected all over the world for our fair play. Is that true? Is that right? I'd take a little abuse for a world cup win wouldn't you? Watch this space!
  8. I'm assuming that's Butch Wilkins not Graham and Eddie Neids and not Newton?
  9. Peter Nicolas (along with Graham Roberts) 'kicked' us up to the old first division! More like legend status here. They were a pair of dirty bassas but it did the trick!
  10. I honestly think we'll struggle to buy anyone this close season. I don't think Mr A's forthcoming with the dosh and we'll def have to sell to buy. That will mean that you can forget about Villa, Ribery, Ibra and the likes. More low profile signings me thinks. One thing I am concerned about though, is that Guus recommended that the squad was aging and all we are being linked with are 30+ players!
  11. Have to agree with this mate. He was my favourite player and the rumours going around was that he was home sick and was going to back north. Everyone thought it would be to his childhood team Rangers, however, to see that he'd signed for Spurs was shocking. Spurs were much biggers rivals for us then than what they are now. I remember a bloke burning a spurs shirt in the pub after that!
  12. Hello guys new member to this forum here. Thought I'd join as been a member of CFCnet for ages, but they give me the right hump as they keep rejecting my posts! They were all very legit, but slightly convtraversial. I feel they are toeing the club line somewhere and we need real voices even if it's in disagreement witht he club. Am I on the right forum?
