Posted June 19, 200915 yr I'm guessing we won't see anything for definite until the transfer window officially opens in a couple of weeks. Although some of the clubs have made announcements about signings it's very noticeable to me the big 4 have yet to follow suit and I'm guessing it's because these 4 have their own TV channels and therefore want to make transfer announcements exclusive to them. Rules will prevent them revealing players as being theirs in term,s of publicity shots until then. I'm convinced Zhirkov is in the bag as is Sturridge, I'm nearly as convinced Aguero is also in the bag but I don't expect to see anything official until we can reveal these players as being ours on Chelsea TV
June 19, 200915 yr I think clubs are waiting for Madrid to complete their dealings too, they have sent the European Market into chaos. Prices being banded around at the moment are ludicrous.
June 19, 200915 yr Wouldn't our first signing be announced on July 1st (if there is one)? I think thats the day when Ancelotti arrives/officially becomes manager, no?

Prices being banded around at the moment are ludicrous. yea i agree, i heard the inter milan president said that Ibrahimovic is valued at the same as Kaka or Ronaldo!!! WTF?? 50-80 mil for Ibrahimovic.. have a day off pal
June 19, 200915 yr Big clubs actually rate Zlatan so i wouldn't be surprised if we are not interested in Ibra well not for that price. We could well be seeing Glen Johnson back at the bridge as our first signing and maybe a goodbye to Bosignwa.
June 19, 200915 yr I don't think any signings will be announced until Carlo is officially in place. I hope that deals are basically in place already and we can bring in the players we want very quickly after that. Expect two or three announcements as undoubtedly Kenyon will manage them to maximise our global image.
June 19, 200915 yr Glen Johnson looks a distinct possibility judging by reports. I personally wouldn't mind Glen coming back to the Bridge, I was sorry to see him leave in the first place. The asking price is ridiculous though, but if it means Ribery signing too with Bosingwa going to Bayern, I can live with that. Not much to choose between Johnson & Bosingwa anyway, in my opinion - plus of course, Glen is English which might have some bearing on the decision (6+5 and all that).
June 22, 200915 yr I honestly think we'll struggle to buy anyone this close season. I don't think Mr A's forthcoming with the dosh and we'll def have to sell to buy. That will mean that you can forget about Villa, Ribery, Ibra and the likes. More low profile signings me thinks. One thing I am concerned about though, is that Guus recommended that the squad was aging and all we are being linked with are 30+ players!
June 22, 200915 yr i think ancelotti will be presented to the media with aguero and maybe 1 other on the 1st of july kind of presenting a new era
June 22, 200915 yr i think ancelotti will be presented to the media with aguero and maybe 1 other on the 1st of julykind of presenting a new era I will kiss you if that's true! ... Don't let that put you off the idea though
June 22, 200915 yr I don't think our first signing will be unveiled on the 1st of July. I am basing my statement on the following facts : 1. Ancelotti has not yet seen the squad in training. 2. Most of the players (both, who are likely to come in, or go out), are on a holiday until atleast then. 3. The window doesn't officially open until 1st July so you can't expect a player to come in on that very day (ok, he possibly can). 4. Ancelotti has not yet started hsi work at Chelsea so he doesn't know about the resources at hand (I am presuming). So, I am speculating that our first transfer shall be completed around 4th - 8th July. And hopefully all the new players will come in before we depart for our pre-season.
June 22, 200915 yr I will kiss you if that's true!... Don't let that put you off the idea though :( i'm willing to make the sacrifice
June 22, 200915 yr As much as we would all love to see Aguero and Ribery already signed up, your probs right, we wont have any signings until Carlo gets in, sees the players and has time to decide what he needs. I honestly think we'll struggle to buy anyone this close season. Yea we are being linked with 30+ players which i know we all hate BUT i remember reading an interview by carlo saying who he though chelsea needed to bring in last season, naming Alonso and Ribery....which keeps me hopeful for who he is gunna be targetting this summer....classy and skillful players, something we REALLY need
June 22, 200915 yr When? - Mid July by my reckoning. Let Charlie get to know the squad etc. Who? - Sturridge, Aguero and Zhirkov for me, with the possible addition of Pirlo, who's been brilliant in the Confederations Cup I might add. Edited June 22, 200915 yr by Ruh Buh Juh
June 22, 200915 yr I remember reading that Sheva said he'd be going back to training on 9th July. If thats the case I'd expect to see any new signings revealed around the 1st so that time isn't wasted with pre-season training etc. I personally think any signings will be revealed as soon as they're signed. Its pretty hard to keep a lid on these things, with players undergoing medicals and perhaps visiting the club...the journos will find out one way or another. Look at Man City, Real, Liverpool...as soon as the transfer is completed the player is presented.
June 22, 200915 yr On that front does anyone see Sheva staying a season like he said? I know he has a bit of a wage on him but im sure he would be a huge help too Ancelotti. Plus i wouldn't mind seeing another Man Utd goal line clearance!

And hopefully all the new players will come in before we depart for our pre-season. 1.If we have to wait for Carlo to see the squad in training before we decide on our transfer targets then we've got ourselves one dumb manager. 2.That doesn't prevent clubs from bidding for or accepting fees for the players. As for players being out on holiday or otherwise engaged that's why they employ agents that represent them. 3.Again, fees offered and agreed at any given moment, they just become official starting July 1st. 4.See point 1.

I hope that deals are basically in place already and we can bring in the players we want very quickly after that. Expect two or three announcements as undoubtedly Kenyon will manage them to maximise our global image. That's what I don't understand. If in fact, the deals already in place, why wait till July to announce them? Real,Pool,City and many others sign players openly and don't bother waiting till the window opens officially. I'd like to be wrong but it sounds like a bit of a wishful thinking from some of our fans. I'm sure we're working on some potential deals but I seriously doubt any one of them is in the bag already.
June 22, 200915 yr I don't buy into this idea that we are keeping signings secret. We are still very much active in the transfer market and there is no better way (well other than a fat cheque book) of attracting new players than having them see who you have already added to the squad.
