The Liverpool one every time. My old man went through a period of thinking of himself as a jinx when it came to watching Chelsea play as every time he watched us we lost. That FA Cup day he watched till half time and then declared 'that's it I've jinxed us again, I'm taking the dogs out for a walk and won't be back till full time.

The rest is history! I should have banned him from watching us ever again!

Also in their has to be the League Cup Quarter Final replay against Sheffield Wednesday. 3-0 down at half time, Paul Canoville comes on at Ht and we win 4-3 courtesy of a Canoville double and an assist. (well we would have won 4-3 if it hadn't have been for big Doug Rougvie!!)

All those that Coco mentions are classics. I was lucky enough to be at the Cardiff game - there were fun and games that day, bloody hell! ;)

There's one game that has stuck in my mind for years, though I wasn't at the match and it wasn't shown on TV. It was in October 1970, I heard on the radio that we were losing 3-0 at Blackpool (yes, they were in the top tier back then!), and was totally pissed off. I only watched the final results on the TV half-heartedly, fearing the worst, but unbelievably we'd come back and won the game 4-3! Keithy Weller got 2, Webby & an own goal - must have been a hell of a game, but I've never met anyone who went in order to ask them.

The one that always stands out in my mind is Bolton at home. 3-0 down at half time, and a mate of mine from Hayes (you know who you are Woodhouse) said something like "f**k this for a game of soldiers. Fancy going for a pint?" 'Why not' says I. And fools that we were, we left at half time - one of the very few occasions I ever voluntarily left the ground before the match had finished. I stayed and endured the 7-1 at Wolves, the 6-0 at Rotherham, never once did I leave the ground just because we weren't winning. Except for Bolton at home.

And what happened? We won 4-3 of course. I never even got to see the goals on MOTD that night because it being a Saturday, I was out all bleedin' night.

Don't ask me what year it was though.

Edit: if that's the same Cardiff away I'm thinking of, I remember a certain person whose surname begins with an H having a go (verbally) at another person whose surname begins with an H for taking his .. acquaintances into the Cardiff end without adequate backup.

That was late 70s I think Lofty. I read about it a while ago. It wasn't just a 2nd half come back it was a last quarter of an hour come back. My memory may be failing me but I think we were still 3-0 down with only 15 minutes left.

1978 I think. I was at home ill at the time, and the 0-3 scoreline made me feel sick beyond words. Then Shellito sent on Walker who had one of those once a season games. The Cardiff comeback in the last 5 minutes was also incredible, and then there was the 2nd leg v Vicenza (0-2 and an away goal down) but for all-round magic the Liverpool game is pretty unbeatable. Possibly the best half of football we've ever played.

I'd say the best half we ever played was the x3 1st half goals at SB against Barca a couple of years ago. ;)

I think you're right there. One thing I do remember, is that our winner was actually an own goal, scored by none other than Sam Allardyce!

:D Good days!

Worst thing about that day for me was I missed our comeback - I was amongst a certain group of individuals who had left the ground early in order to discuss the game with a mob of Cardiff in a nearby park at the time ;)

I was at this game, in the shed, and I have a sneeky feeling it was actually 3-1 at half time, I also remember Ron Harris tackling Frank Worthington neck high, almost took his head band off, to concede apenalty.

Definitely 3-0 with 15 minutes to go. Have seen the (poor quality) footage!

I think october 90..2-0 down in the league cup at pompey with 10 minutes to play..penalty wise and 2 others in 10 minutes we win 3-2 and go on to beat the spuds 3-0 at their ground before pissing it up against wednesday in the semi's.

My first memories of thinking we will never win anything agianst sh*t clubs we were only good at beating so called bigger clubs!!

The game for me has to be against Spuds in 1993/94 if my memory serves me correct. We were 2-0 down within 20 minutes. Luckily we got back into the game and made it 2-2 at half-time. In the end we won 4-3 with a last minute Mark Stein penalty. Brilliant game!

Not really anything I can think of that hasn't been mentioned already. but I remember a couple seasons back going away to Blackburn, and Glen Johnson scored us the winner in a 3-2 thriller. his control and finish were brilliant, then big Melchiot tackled him and gave him a leg cramp in the celebrations
