Seems to me the whole thing was planned way before it was known that RB wouldn’t qualify for the CL. No club would sign a player for a decent fee on anything other than a 5 year deal unless there were already plans in place. Just looking at income versus income there is absolutely no doubt that a new stadium at EC would generate circa £50m more a season but having an additional 20k at the ground massively increases money generated they key would be to what I believe is called sweating the assets. I think we need to, grudgingly, accept that Spurs stadium is something else but and this is the big but after the fanfares the stadium is not generating the levels of income that were envisaged. Anyone that has been to WHL will know that the area will never be a tourist hotspot and that is the flaw in their business model. It’s worth noting that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a stand alone company not actually owned by THFC Ltd. Yes the ultimate owner of the stadium is the beneficial trust. There is absolutely no doubt that they had hoped to have more games and more concerts at the stadium but far from an increase there appears to be a reduction in non football events.Indeed in their latest accounts, well THStadium Ltd, they talk about the need to increase revenue from restaurants, concerts, NFL, Rugby and they highlight things like the skywalk as a “ success “. For me geography is key. Earls Court isn’t Tottenham, it’s far closer to central London and consequently it is a far more tourist friendly location. One thing that did surprise me is just how little they generate from match day. Before expenses the 19 PL games generated £42 million. The bulk of Spurs stadium debt is on very beneficial terms over a very long period but keep an eye on their accounts because their amortisation numbers are growing, they don’t generate great sums from players sales and the profits generated from the stadium are around £25 million Pa

Whilst I don’t doubt that footballers are greedy most want to actually play. Of course we all remember Bogarde but by and large footballers want the best of both worlds. It’s worth remembering that most footballers at PL level will be paying 45% IT and 10% nic. Add to their government deductions they will be paying to their agents and of course to the PFA pension fund Chillwell it will all be about the numbers. The potential costs for the remainder of his contract are £20 million ish . The calculations will need to include nic employer’s liability of 13% longside the fact that there is around a saving in 26/27 of £4.5 amortisation and £5m wages .He is the easiest the three is the easiest to see being moved on for say £10 million starts to sway the numbers significantly. There was rumours that Nunkuku was on £300k a week but think that was all put to bed .Capology suggests that he is on £195k a week. Still a huge sum. But likely that includes a % of his signing on fee. Sterling is a difficult one and of course his wages are even more ridiculous. I likewise can’t see who would take him on but again unless someone is mad enough to offer him say a 4 year deal( unlikely) or he decides to go to Saudi then the best we can hope for is a loan or his contract gets bought out

Likely to go to a German Club. Offers around £30-£40 million being sought. Chillwell . Move to Leeds, dirty Leeds, being talked about £15-20 m Sterling. No real interest it seems save a Saudi Club. Will his contract be cancelled ? Gusto. Similar to Nunkuku quite possibly a combined fee of £80 -£90 million. Jackson. No mention in the sanctions agreement about it being the 24/5 list carried forward nor indeed is there any mention of a monetary sum nor saying that any sum has to be raised from transfer fees All it talks about is if you put a “new” player on the A list for seasons 25/26&26/27 then the player squad cost ( wages/impairment, amortisation and agent fees ) have to be matched or bettered by a player transferred off that A List. Look at UEFa Article 32. This is talking about putting “ New players “ on the A list which for a club like Chelsea is due to be registered by 2 September . Not the use of the word new. Article 32 Subsequent registration32.01 After the completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registrations must be completed by 5 February 2026 (24:00 CET) at the latest.

No all agreements signed will still run for the agreed term but any subsequent new contract can’t extend the period to over 5 years. So Kepa 1 year extension after 6 years wouldn’t see the £10 million that remained to be amortised split into £5 million sums in 24/25 &25/26 that would in effect extend it to eight years What really complicated the matter is that the PL & UEFA do t have the same date as to when the rule change applied . This is form memory but the restriction kicked in UEFA wise from 1/7/23 & the PL from 1/12/23

Felix it seems will go back to Portugal, Nunkuku and Gusto seem to be a package to Bayerns and Enzo likely to RM Felix will see both and accounting and cash loss. Bayern are said to want to deal of around €100 so if that’s right will see a cash gain and a significant accounting gain and Enzo at the sum being talked out would see a sizeable cash gain and a significant accounting profit. Move on those 4 and save Gusto who yes played well in the CWC but his presence puts a barrier to club grown talent, I don’t see any squad quality drop

Just a point in Kepa. He was bought on a 7 year deal. The rule change re max 5 year amortisation meant that his £10pa finished in 24/25 . The 5 years were already exceeded so that amortisation sum will come off the books for 25/26 . So in accounting therms the £5 million adds to the £10 = an impact of £15 million. But also when it comes to player costs you now have to also factor in their wages. Amortisation + agent fees ( mainly included in sums to be amortised) + wages

As a matter of interest can you point me to the UEFA written directive stating what you are saying. I agree fully that’s what is being reported in some of the press but it’s certainly not what the sanctions statement says

It could . The difference as I see it is two fold 1) To demolish the stadium redevelop the current site etc even if you were working to the same plans would cost an arm and a leg more than it would have when the plans for SB were passed. Those plans came with significant restrictions in terms of what the club could or couldn’t do . If my memory serves me right there would have been a total restring events such as contracts add to that there was also a restriction around the number of games over and above the men’s first team. 2) BlueCos plans are far different. In terms of hospitality etc there would be far more income from building an events location where there would more focus on a day out as opposed to turning up for say 2 hours

It’s pretty obvious that a modern multi purpose venue is far more lucrative providing far greater income than a stadium that has major restrictions which was the reality with the planned RA rebuilt of SB. It’s odd because there was an update just a couple of weeks ago from the EC development team. Well not so much of an update in terms of how positive messages around past plans more for me starting to outline issues such as potential reside overdevelopment, the need for more defined entertainment venues and talk about places to eat etc. What we shouldn’t forget is that the transport links both in terms of public transport and indeed roads into the are are far better than North London would make it far more accessible than Wembley .

It’s difficult to gain a true perspective in terms of the FOS but there are snippets out there which suggest: 1) The I A sponsor in 23/24 matched the offers save 1 that were on the table . In other words the £40 million paid didn’t match Paramount + in terms of longevity or indeed the quantum but as we know the PL blocked that deal. I had hoped we would challenge that ruling but as history tells us we didn’t. 2) In 24/25 a strategic decision was made that the offers and the period of those deals were very much based on poor performance. It seems BlueCo gambled that the market would be more lucrative for the 25/26 season. The few games that there was a front of shirt are reported to have been worth between £7-11 million. 3) Going forward it seems that rather than being trapped in a £40m PA deal and the club will be looking toward £60 PA deal. Will that be feasible ? Well it needs to be a long term deal, it needs to recover circa £33 million we are down . 4) Don’t be at all surprised if whoever the sponsor is ( I think it will be a middle eastern airline) not only have front of shirt but also part of the clubs infrastructure bears the name. Maybe a stand, Cobham or Kingsmeadow. I somehow doutit will be SB As an aside isn’t our shirt deal with Nike a 15 year deal ending in 2032 ? Turning to the Puma deal on the face of it a new £100pa deal maybe isn’t quite what it appears. The current £65million Pa deal had another 4 years to run. There was absolutely no need for Puma to renegotiate that 10 year deal at this point in time so why has it been uplifted to £100pa ? I am no expert in this type of activity on the face of it and based on other teams there wouldn’t have been any new negotiations unless the existing deal had a clause that required a new deal at this point . Unlikely I would suggest. Do Puma a see Man City are paragons of virtue deserving of a not necessarily well time new deal .This is interesting but it seems that even at this point in time we simply don’t know what the IC will rule Anyone remember our old Aiddas deal where we bought ourself out and moved to Nike ? Is it possible that City have done the same ? Well maybe not the same but gave notice that they, City, wanted to end the deal? This is purely speculation but I keep going back why ,when it had near enough 40% of the deal to run ,would Puma need to throw so much at City at this point in time ?

Someone asked the question the other day as to who funded our costs in terms of travel etc. It appear that FIFA funded up to $50k a day. Our costs were actually averaged out at €100k a day. So on the basis of a 30 day tournament it cost the club €1.5 million although it’s not been stated if we had any sponsorship to pay for that. There was also a report in the DM today talking about how the players were able to have family with them and how numerous rest days and team building events took place. Also there was mention that the club bought in special FA trained staff to organise the “ camp” and events including faliles as the club itself didn’t have relevant experience.

I think if you delve into other sports there will be numerous other examples but in football terms is where my memories are

From what I read there wasn’t an expectation that the shirt sponsor would be announced before the CWC but without doubt if there is one ( which I think is much more likely than not) we won’t know about who it is or what sum they are paying for a few weeks. The last snippet I heard is that the fee will be between £55 million and £65 million and the smart money is on a Middle East airline. As for commercial income the growth , despite not having a FOS sponsor for a full season since 3 is quite interesting 20/21 £153 m 21/22 £177m the last RA ownership year 22/23 £210m 23/24 £225m The strategy seems to far more focused on a greater number of club partners ( akin to Arsenal)
