Having a different view on different circumstances is hardly hypocritical. Hodgson was brought in by a man hired only to get 100 million funding by previous owners, the new owners realised the mistakes of the previous regime and acted swiftly and correctly. My post that was reposted accusing me of amnesia was in regards to AVB getting sacked, in essence about your club needing the stability and support for a young manager who was having to overhaul an ageing squad. Each sacking should be judged on the circumstances and as an outsider looking in, i think as a club you have made a mistake. I didnt reposnd to the hodgson shout to create ammunition for posters to have pot shots and abuse as i thought since i have been on here that opposition views are respected and treated fairly (even if they are disagreed with) Maybe the anger flying round is aimed at my responses and for that i shall take myself out of the firing line as constructive debate and discussion was what i have enjoyed about this site rather than the attention i seem to be getting here.

Not one to get into name calling as i think its quite petty. But Rafa was dismissed for finishing seventh with a squad apparently capable of much more. In came Roy Hodgson, hired by Christian purlslow (who labelled himself the Fernando Torres of the financial world - maybe he meant the Fernando now wearing blue), to dampen expectations of a top 4 finish and also sign the proven class of Koncheskey, Poulsen and Brad Jones. Not only did Roy with all his 37 years of management experience not have the tactical nous to realise we are not Fulham and expect to win games but he also had the wrong mentality of a top manager, his "i just hope we dont get beat by 6-0" at man city proved this. He was clueless beyond belief in his launch the ball to Torres tactics and was arrogant to think 37 years of managing mediocrity was a justifiable response to his critics. To be a top manager/player you have to have the right mentality to succeed and just as we are seeing with the likes of Downing etc, its very easily shown up when you dont have it. In my opinion Roy Hodgson makes poor players average and good players average.... having perused the majority of forums, even WBA fans were not happy with his tactics and approach to games. And bring us to within 3 points of the relegation zone in December the board had to act. Using one column of Alan Hansens to demonstrate he was hashly treated is a bit simplistic and also questioning the players left by Rafa, well yet again id say we had mascherano, Torres, Gerrard, Lucas, Agger, Reina, Johnson.... who formed the team that Roy had at his disposal to id say it was far from poor.

As a liverpool fan, and very much pro rafa benitez, although i wouldnt want him managing you.... can someone explain why as a manager you would not have wanted him?

Player power does seem a problem at your club, but lets be fair players are all selfish. They have lived their lives being focussed on themselves from the age of 13 (or whatever) and so only really care about themselves. Your older players still are in this zone and it takes either a strong manager (i.e Ferguson) or total faith from a board to stop these players thinking about themselves and not having the power. As a liverpool fan its probably beneficial for us in the current climate that you have sacked AVB as although this season for you has been a poor one i think in time he would have got it right and he was just not given the time or backing to replace the powerful senior players who need replacing. I think this decision has put you back another two seasons and helps the likes of ourselves and Arsenal to slowly rebuild under hopefully for us the same manager. i dont know why any club thinks changing a manager so much can create a winning environment... it does baffle me that the men in charge of clubs are so trigger happy
  5. As an opposition fan, if I was being nice I'd say .. Zola, skilful honest and a great professional respected by fans and opposition alike for his attitude and ability. But if I wanted to be critical it would be winston Bogarde, a player who cared only about the money and always had pound signs in his eyes
  6. But yet in any other walk of life a workmate/mate shagging (sorry don't know if that's allowed so sleeping with) your ex/bird and yet people think badly of you would never really happen... Football it's a funny old game eh
  7. Sorry with the babbling I did I actually meant to say that the owner should back AVB and let him start to sort out the power struggle the ageing players in your team seem to have created. Whenever players sense a manager is weak they switch off or try to undermine him and stop trying as its the "he won't be here soon anyway mentality" which even ferguson went through at man it'd when he announced his retirement albeit briefly
  8. From the outside looking in though I would suggest that you need to keep the faith with one manager eventually. You have a team that is renowned for having players who inspired a golden period for you but it would seem age has caught up with them but their powerbase in the dressing room and leaks to the media continue. If the team and fans have lost faith in AVB then I'm sure no doubt as the press will try pile even more pressure on him and he will be sacked. Maybe the job was too big for him, maybe the players don't respect him or maybe his tactical ability is strange or poor as you seem to state. But the managers job has been a revolving door and at some point you need to say this is the man and we back him to the hilt. During rafas end days with us we had dressing room unrest (allegedly from carragher) who also supposedly had an input into who would be rafas replacement. The main problem we as Liverpool fans had was the power he seemed to generate and the talk to the tabloids of if he was no longer first choice he would want to leave, thus putting pressure on Hodgson even though we as fans could see he had peaked and was no longer capable of being a starter. I have babbles on here without meaning to but the solution we got was Kenny being out in place and having the total respect of everyone around the club came in and as soon as he could carragher was out the team and now we have a solid centre halve partnership. The point I was trying to make but taken too many words to do so, is that a strong manager or someone who has the respect of fans and players is needed to come in and change your older players attitudes , the most suitable is think is Jose
  9. True enough but I have only ever commented on ex Liverpool players and have a read of your website to gauge how your season has been going and the fans thoughts. Just think that people's view in meireles is correct and wanted to emphasis that at my club he had one good month. I didn't mean to offend though
  10. As a red who seen meireles week in week out last season I was happy we got a little profit on him. He is not a holding midfielder in the defence terms as he can run all day, but I'm sure you have noticed he winces out of challenges and can make a 70/30 ball in his favour a 40/60 to the opposition. So he can't tackle or refuses to, his distribution is best described as average as all he can do is play the simple pass and apart from what seems like the month of his career he actually doesn't get into scoring positions. I do look at your team now and it's strange how much you have fallen down and if I were to give a summary of your team I think it would shock a few fans of what oppositions fans now think of your team. I shall not do this as I'm sure I would get all kinds of abuse and people think I was gloating.
  11. Unfortunately I think you are out. Napoli are great counter attacking and I think they may well win at your ground aswell. Even though I'd rather you go through
  12. Napoli -1 goal is too tempting not to bet on... 16/5 plus a cavani win cast is 3/1... If your team is going to lose you may aswell make a profit on it... Says the Liverpool fan who had 25 pound on Blackpool to win at Anfield under Roy Hodgson at 10/1 Just hope your fans are safe as Napoli are absolute animals on their own patch
  13. Ha ha... Il go check if any of our youth players have scored any against Chelsea youth teams..... Has Torres still scored more goals against you than for you?
  14. Meet you in Birmingham... Just going to kidnap downing ....
