I tryed posting this on the headhunters topic but for some reason it would not let me do it. There is post on there about Breda Lee who use work serving teas to the players and looking after there kits in the dressing room and who use to go to most of the aways . I remember when Breda Lee son died at Preston away in the 80's,a few of his friends walk around Stamford Bridge taking a collection for her. She was a really lovely lady and had time for everyone including Hickey and his crew to the little lad who first time it was at the Bridge. In fact there were a few stewards who were like that in thems day everyone know everyone else especially at away games.- Loyal supporters! Tales of trips to the likes of Carlisle, Oldham, Rotherham, Shrewsbury, Wrexham, Preston, etc.
Ahh Good old days when we use travel by British Rail not the special, I can remember going to Wrexham one time in the middle of winter and the OB made any one wearing boots taken them off and they had to standed there on the terraces, Oldham use to be another trip that we seen to take loades away maybe it because we use to get of at Manchester Piccadilly and get a bus or walk through the centre of Manchester to Victoria station this was also away the same with Bolton old ground apart from the time we were band and we went Via Stockport . Rotherham I always remember that it was bloody alway cold there.- Leeds 83
I went to every game then and Leeds away both times in 83 and I'm sure that was the biggest mob they ever had up there from a London team. I can also remember coming back from Huddersfield and getting of at Leeds and and escaping from the station through the side gate and chasing the Leeds supporter around the town centre and bus station before the old bill rounded us up and escourted us back to the station. Leeds at home I was in the West Stand that day and with about 15 minutes to go loades of us made our way down to the edge of the pitch. I can remember that was one of the first time I saw the OB have there riots shields out which they use to push the leeds mob back . and yes they did smash up the score board . Great days .- RIP Dave Sexton
RIP Dave Sexton ,Who was in charge when i first saw and feel in love with CFC- How many home ends you been in?
Most of the away games in the late 70's early 80's mobs of CFC use to try and take the home end or go into the seats of the main stands. The ends I can remember going in were The Northbank Highbury,Swansea twice there end was along the side of the pitch, Notts Forest Oldham ,Bolton ,QPR, Also in them days I went in a few seats like Aston Villa ,Derby Rotherham Leeds, Everton , Cardiff ,Norwich ,Sheff Weds. I do miss them days every body knew each other and we use to have a great crack.- Playoff Final 1988
I was there that day I remember it you could tell that some think was going to kick off as soon as you got into the ground. Also there was loads of problems up at Middlesbrough during the first leg in mid week. I must amit the first couple of games at home the following were a bit strange with the terrace close for them games agains Oxford & I think it was Man City I went in the West Stand.- Celebrity fans
Had some great times traveling to away games with Micky Greenaway. I did give to that collection for him . RIP Micky , how we miss Zigger Zagger.- The headhunters?
I know I'm bit late here,I must say that in the late 70's & 80'S I must of miss only about a dozen games home and away. At the away games every body know each other and there was something existing about going to places like Oldham or Burnley in the second division In the 80's a lot of us started going in the seats instead of standing on the terraces . Them days we did not call each other Headhunters . It was great going to away games knowing that the 3rd of the crowd of were chelsea fans and most of of us would stick together when trouble came our way. But in them days that was just how it was .- Vintage Blues pictures and film
