Ruh Buh Juh
After getting this months Chelsea magazine through the post, there's an interview with our 18 year old keeper, Jan Sebek, and after "a run of solid reserve team displays" he's earned himself a squad number and, towards the end of last season, he was third choice keeper. It's good that we have this young Czech, who's actually been tipped "the next Petr Cech", but what's happening with Rhys Taylor?

All the signs were there in the Reserve games that he would jump the queue (see Lest We Forget thread) - he's a big lad with a big future!
MHedges
Then why do we need a backup keeper? Sounds like we have one. Also, he's already 6'5"...holy sh*t. Edited June 15, 2009 by MHedges
mad_mac
No need for Turnbull, and glad we're looking to our Academy as opposed to buying in someone to warm our bench!

PloKoon13
I'm glad to hear this. I was never very convinced by Turnbull, to be honest.

Anders
Never seen him. We may get Turnbull because he has more rutine and can come on free transfer. We should defenetily bring him up to the 1st squad!
PloKoon13
Just to clarify, will he be second choice behind Cech, or third behind Hilario? I really like Hilario, but I think I'm the only one...

I don't know if Hilario gets contract-renewal. If he do i think he will be 2nd and Sebek 3rd. I like Hilario too but it's the age...

Hilario or Sebek? Hilario at 33 is not that old for a GK.

As long as he's the right side of 35 and willing to sit on the bench and stay sharp, it's not really an issue with a keeper, especially if we have this Sebek kid as well as Rhys Taylor getting good. jack h
Why would anyone want turnbull? Hes f**king sh*te, so much so that Boro dropped him
Maksimov
I think Hilario will be good for at least one more season with one of the youngsters as the third choice. Hilario's done alright when he's played, so I don't see a problem with us going into the new season with him as our back up keeper. Sure, he's no Carlo, but not many teams can afford to have a top keeper like Carlo on the bench.
Tim
He also has a STUPIDLY hot wife/girlfriend. Didn't spot her this year at the Blackburn game, but I remember after last season's last game, when all the WAGs came out, there was a lot of talent, but his other half was comfortably the hottest. Well played sir. Not that this is a reason to keep him, mind, but i just thought i'd mention it.

kalpitv
Blues poised to land SebekChelsea are set to complete the signing of teenage goalkeeper Jan Sebek, according to the player's agent. Sebek joined the Blues on trial in 2007 but struggled to adapt to life away from the Czech Republic. The 18-year-old returned to his homeland but was offered the chance to again impress at Stamford Bridge last year. Upon his return to West London, Sebek was handed the chance to represent the club's reserve side and he kept a clean sheet versus their Arsenal counterparts. "I can confirm that Sebek is going to sign a professional contract with Chelsea on 2nd July," Sebek's agent, Pavel Zika, told deniksport.cz. Sebek said: "It is a dream come true for me. I had been playing football at Tachov until I was 15 and I could not imagine that I would be going elsewhere then. "After moving to Viktoria Plzen and a first half-year I earned my first international call-up and then the Chelsea offer came." From Sky Sports I never knew he was on his 'second trial' at the club last season? Anyway, great news an it seems we wont be investing in silly options like Turnbull who was not even first-choice for the relegated Middlesborough!
