That sounds great! I didn't even know that DVD existed, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Any chance you could let me know which games are featured? I've tried looking on the net, but can't find details - thanks mate.

Best dvd ive bought, its just superb. Its Chelsea games i grew up watching.

1st game Chelsea v Arsenal , Sept 1969 , wont tell you too much just in case you'll want to enjoy it yourself , but theres even a rare fottage big match interview with Alan Birchenall in studio. Jesus we played some wonderful football.

2nd game , Dec 19 1970, Chelsea v West Ham .42,000 at The Bridge. Chopper , jesus , hard is not the word. Frank Lampard actually scored in this game , but ............

3rd game , Jan 1972, Chelsea v Everton. Watch out for some superb football and a bullett of a header from John Dempsey. If you've never knew how good a player Alan Hudson was, this will give you an idea.

4th game, Coventry v Chelsea , Sept 30th 1972 , We wore Red for gods sake . oh and green socks. A name for ya Bluebeard , Bill Garner .

5th game..Nov 3rd 1973 , Man Yoo v Chelsea. What Tommy Baldwin was thinking of with the beard i dont know. In studio Brian Clough and Malcom Allison.

6th game, Oct 1974, Chelsea v Stoke City , we just came off the back of a 6-2 league cup defeat to them the previous Wed. In studio guests are Brian Clough and Ian Hutchinson. A certain Chelsea hero of mine worse the Stoke City colours that day. I only realised how big a man Mickey Droy was too , giant. A game you wont want to miss. Wonderful to see a youthful Hutch on interview and its kinda sad knowing he never got the hero status he deserved by the club.

Thats as far as i've got , still 8 to go so feet up tomorrow with pizza. Bluebeard you'll absolutely love this dvd mate , i've looked everywhere for Chelsea games from the 70's through the years and this a gem and the fottage is brilliant . Well worth €23 . What i like too is The Big Match studio interviews with players ,

I ordered the dvd through the shop here in Dublin so its available , if you have any problems mate let me know and i'll get you a copy . This is a DVD every Chelsea fan should have.

That sounds brilliant mate! I've seen "Chelsea Big Match Revisited" DVD's for sale at places like Amazon, and I assume they're the one you've got. Thing is, some show a cover picture of Chopper, and others have Ossie. Do you know if they are the same DVD, just showing different covers? It's going for just £10.98 on Amazon, I'm gonna have to get it!

I was at most, if not all, of the games you mentioned. I distinctly remember Frank Lampard scoring with a drive at the Shed End, though the Shed was half-full of Spammers that day. I was only about 12 or 13, so too young to get involved :D

Coventry away, I was there in the Coventry end with the rest of the Chelsea lads, making friends with the locals ;)

That red kit was f*ckin' awful, made me sick to see the mighty Chels in red! I think it was Dave Sexton's idea, he thought that if we played in the colours of the "Mighty Magyars" Hungarian side of the 50's we might begin to play like them. Unfortunately, he then went and sold our two best players, Ossie & Huddy, out of spite and it all went tits-up. God, I hate Sexton!

Ian Hutchinson is one of my all-time Chelsea heroes, he was a legend. Virtually every Chelsea fan who was around in the late 60's/early 70's would agree, it was a great pity the club never really showed him the respect he deserved. Terrible shame that injury cut his career short, but it was bound to happen - Hutch was much too brave for his own good.

Oh, and Bill Garner - great man, hard as nails

Thanks a lot for the info, clubhappy, very much appreciated!

Bluebeard, the dvd i have has Ossie on the cover .

Great interviews with an 18 year old Wilkins , Teddy Maybank, Hutch , etc etc .

I think its available on play.com.

I'll have a look in hmv today too.

Thanks a lot for the info, clubhappy, very much appreciated! :P

I remember talking to Norman Medhurst way back then and when the name of Bill Garner cropped up in the conversation Norman looked to the heavens telling me he was a nightmare in training because of his poor tackling. Apparently our own players were permanently in danger of being ruled out for the season every time big Bill went near them because his tackling was so poor

It was no good, I couldn't resist any longer - I've ordered the DVD from Amazon (using the link on this forum, naturally!) Can't wait to watch those games all over again!

I can well believe that of Big Bill :D

Chopper used to go into tackles in training at 100%, just like in a proper match - many a team-mate was injured in training, especially during the 6-a-sides in the main entrance of the Bridge. There was a rumour that Chopper and Keith Weller once came to blows due to the strength of the tackling :P

My copy arrived this morning, and I've just watched the lot! Absolutely brilliant DVD, I'd highly recommend it to any Chelsea fan, especially those who were around in the 70's.

I spent ages trying to see if I could spot myself in the crowd at QPR on Boxing Day 1981. I got in trouble with my family that day, took my 16 year-old cousin to the game, then took him down the pub. He got legless and puked up all down my parents stairs when we got back, but needless to say, I got the blame :D

It was great seeing Hutch & Butch being interviewed, and of course seeing Webby hosting The Big Match. Thanks so much for bringing this DVD to my attention, clubhappy! :o

Doesn't seem to be available on Amazon in the US!!! Damn it

The DVD is region free, so you could always get a copy from Amazon.co.uk (don't forget to use the link on this forum!) ;)

Cheers Steve, probably not a bad shout as the exchange rate isn't as crippling as it used to be!

You'll get yourself a bargain Scott. I'm ordering my own copy as soon as my daughters weddings out of the way next week. but in pound sterling.

Bluebeard , if you come across anywhere selling the '76 '77 season jersey will you let me know mate.

Will do, mate. Strangely, that's the only Chelsea shirt I ever bought, way back in the 76/77 season (apart from a few Chelsea polo shirts).

I remember meeting a fan at the Bridge in 1998 v Arsenal who told me they were available at the stalls just up from fulham broadway Station, , i was prepared to pay up to £50 at the time but i got too drunk that night and probably missed out. Im surprised the megastore have ignored that jersey for some reason , it's without doubt the best jersey we've had in terms of fashion and i've no doubt it would be a huge seller. I still email them but never get a reply .

I've been scouring the web, and I'm amazed that the 76/77 home shirt isn't available! There are Chelsea replica shirts of just about every era bar that one, very strange.

Closest I could get was this site, though don't think they sell the shirts: - 1977 to 1981

It looks similar to the one you're after, but there's something about it that just doesn't look right. As I said before, I had the 76/77 shirt at the time we wore them, and this one looks different - but then, retro shirts are rarely 100% accurate.

I'll keep looking, hopefully something'll turn up.

Does the 76/77 shirt have the logo on the laft hand Chest, big white collar, and it's all made from a heavy cotton? If so, I think I have one that I got from the Chelsea MegaStore a few years back?

It's crazy, if that is the right one, just how heavy the shirt is in comparison to the newer ones. I bet on a late rainy night up North, you'd be weighing about 6lbs more!

That sounds like the one, Scott, it was definitely heavier than newer shirts.

I tried to post a picture of Chopper in a shirt of that era, but keep getting the error message "Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed", so apparently I can't post pics

OK, I've decided to post the pic correctly this time, bloody technology, I dunno, mumble mumble...

This is the Ron Harris pic I mentioned, though I can't remember if this is the 76/77 shirt or the one that came after: -

I tend to prefer this one though...

The one I have doesn't have any sponsoship/ manufacturer logo on it. It's plain blue, large white collar, and white trim at the end of the arms.

As I said, I got mine off the megastore, so maybe they advertised the year wrong?

I always stood by the feeling that the Coors one was my favourite shirt
