The Brit
Just seen his presser...came across as a complete arse...laughing at people's quiestions in a very smug way...no doubt cos he's sold his professional integrity and ambition for cash...the notts county manager was a bit of an arse too...getting all touchy cos the tone of the questions was basically why the fcuk have you turned down prem league clubs to join a league two outfit...fair enough point in my opinion

TheWestwayWonder
The Rottenham fans are saying he'll do a season and then be off to Forest. hahaha! Funny from the Spuddies I didnt hear this until today, but apparrently Beckham has been linked with a move there. Im sure it wont happen now, but in a couple of years if County are in the championship and Beckham is still floating around rather than working on his acting career, I could easily see him going there. I dont like Campbell at all, but I have to say it would be kind of cool to see Notts County in the Prem, potentially, one day. Somehow, I feel like they will get there faster than QPR, the other "lower" club to get a big takeover
TheWestwayWonder
Brit, Early Doors from Eurosport had the same reaction as you to his presser: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/ear...article/194786/ A local journalist gave Campbell the easiest opening gambit; why had he chosen Notts County? The reply was short and rubbish: "Because of the future, really." Asked about his fitness to play, Campbell gave the rather upsetting assessment that he was "not ground zero." However hard the assembled journalists tried to coax a decent answer out of him, Campbell continued to smirk dismissively and provide responses hardly befitting a man ready to embark on his role as an ambassador for the club. Q: "Do you think you'll play in the Premier League again?" A: "I dunno." Q: "What role did Sven-Goran Eriksson play in persuading you to sign?" A: "(Laughs) He played a big role, yeah." Q: "What do you think of Nottingham?" A: "Nice, very charming." Q: "Why did you reject the chance to stay in the Premier League." A: "I'm looking more future-wise now." Q: "Was it because County offered you more money?" A: "Er... not really, no." It hardly sounded like a man with faith in his decision to join Eriksson's bizarre adventure. It is hard to know whether seeing Campbell reject Aston Villa to join a fourth-tier side would make Tottenham fans feel better or worse.
The Brit
that transcript is pretty accurate over what he was like, but watching hom on sky sports news also gave you the impression of what a smug git he looked...had to laugh when he talked about wanting to play for the oldest club in the world...yeah right
jack h
that manager sounded like a right tosser, its perfectly normal for people to question the deal as its obvious what he's gone there for. Edited August 25, 2009 by jack h
