Elder Scrolls IV

Anyone played this? I just bought it, and although it's older I've heard it is a "classic." I've also heard it's by the same company that made Fallout 3, one of my favourite games.

Would like to know what anyones thoughts are. I've also heard the new Batman Game is incredible

its a superb game, and like with fallout 3 stay away from the main story for as long as you can and do all the side quests. im probably a little biased as i love these kind of games, and fallout 3 was basically oblivion in the future.

I've never really played Oblivion, but for a few times over a friends house, so I can't tell you.

But, I've got Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it's right up there with one of the best games I've ever played.

Thanks for the replies guys, glad to hear that it is like Fallout...and yeah I'll be sure to stay away from the main story until I've exhausted everything else. I expect that you can select different attributes to your character as you progress, like you could in Fallout?

RBJ...thanks for the info, I've seen that game constantly be awarded 9.5 in nearly every review, so I think it'll be next

yeah you can, but its much more like a true RPG than fallout is. if you liked fallout then you will love oblivion.

Batman is all about the story, it's an excellent story.

And, like Fallout, you should roam about looking for all the hidden secrets and trophies rather than just go through the whole story.

The graphics are probably the best graphics I've seen for a game, the detail is magnificent.

You should enjoy it :D

basically fallout 3 is oblivion with hats and guns :D

oblivion was ok but not great for me. that's probably because i compared it to the good old baldur's gate series, which for me is the best fantasy crpg ever. THE best crpg is fallout 2, an absolutely fantastic game. sadly fallout 3 is nothing like it, a huge disappointment for me.

This is my first venture into an RPG. Fallout 3 was a brilliant introduction to what those games can offer. If I hadn't played fallout 3, I wouldn't be looking at ES IV

the PC baldurs gate series was superb, as was both the original fallout (yes, im that old) and fallout 2. but im surprised you didnt like fallout 3, i thought it was fantastic and loved pretty much everything about it. the sheer scale of it was incredible and the made a very good job of making a game that both RPG`ers like me and FPS`ers could enjoy. the only thing i would rather they had done was make the RPG element a bit more varied but there was still a lot for me to get my teeth into.

i could write a kenn style mile long response going on and on and on listing all the shortcomings of fallout 3, but to save both of us some time(well, actually only for me :)) i'll let these two articles do the talking as they sum up my feelings quite well

in short: compared to fallout 2 the main storyline is stupid, the npcs are not as colourful, the combat and the character improvement is much simpler and i really miss the great humour that made f2 unique.

the crpgs i played and liked this year are The Witcher and Mass Effect.

bioware's Dragon Age will be out in november, i have high hopes for that.

totally agree on mass effect, magnificent game. and im really looking forward to dragon age (anything bioware is good in my book), very interesting the way you can play it through as totally different classes and the story will be different. i still think your being harsh on fallout 3, though.

Oblivion is brilliant, one of my favouite features iin it is actually reading through the books in the game as IMO it really helps get you in the mood to play it (if that makes sense) and just shows how much time was put into it.

I also heard that theyre developing a new oblivion game dont know if its true but i hope that they make it another RPG
