Ancelotti: Fabio has a great future

Carlo Ancelotti insists he will resist spending big in January because of the wealth of talent he has coming through the ranks at Chelsea.

The Blues have been linked with Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero, Valencia's David Villa, AC Milan's Alexandre Pato and Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, among others, after having their transfer ban temporarily lifted.

But Ancelotti believes Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini - who have just 20 minutes of Premier League experience between them this season - can make the step up when Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou head to Angola for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

'Unless we suffer injuries, we are determined not to make changes to the team,' said Ancelotti. 'We have two forwards going to the Africa Cup of Nations - Drogba and Kalou - but climbing on their shoulders are two little boys with a great future: Sturridge and Borini - an 18-year-old from Bologna who is very, very, very interesting.'

A good read, however just one minor point... PLAY HIM THEN FFS!!! When we're 3 sodding 0 up or what have you, so we can see what he's like.

I'd still like Aguero though ;)

At least he shows an intrest for the talents at Chelsea. Fabio, Bruma and Kakuta should get some 1st-team excperience this season.

Agree Gem, talk is good, but talk is easy. Lets see them get some game time when appropriate, as expecting them to step in come the ACN with pretty much no first team game time at all will be a very tall order, however good they are.

It's great that he has faith in our youths. I wont complain that he hasn't played them that much because he has probably played youngsters more in these few months than the rest of our post Ranieri managers have done together.

Still, I hope that this is all a smoke screen, because while Sturridge and Borini are very talented, they are not quite ready to play for the first team yet. Bringing them on if we have a strong lead or if we're playing some small team in the carling cup or the fa cup is okay, but that's it.

I can't remember which teams we'll face during the ACN, but I still feel that a new striker would be nice to have.

hull, sunderland, burnley and birmingham i think. Would be great to see these two get some gametime but still want a couple of signings. Now that the ban has been temporarily lifted does that mean kakuta is allowed to play at the moment?

I think Kakuta was only banned for a certain period of time, which has ran out (correct me if I'm wrong anyone..) so hopefully he'll get a chance soon, especially during the ACN.. we should be thinking to get at least 10 points from those 4 matches we have in that period, so it would be a perfect time to prove themselves.
