FA Cup - Liverpool in Cup ticket gaffe

Featured Replies

Liverpool offered fans tickets for an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Burnley before they were knocked out of the competition by Reading.

Cocky officials sent an email to season-ticket holders two hours prior to Wednesday's third-round replay at Anfield, selling tickets for the Burnley match, which would have taken place on Saturday, January 23.

However, their confidence was horribly misplaced as Reading beat Liverpool 2-1 after extra time, and the Championship club now face Burnley.

Liverpool fan Martin Jones told The Sun: "I didn't read it until after the game. "When I got on the computer and opened it up I couldn't believe my eyes. It was bad enough to crash out of the cup but then for the club to try and sell me tickets for the next round was like a slap in the face.

It heaps further embarrassment on the club, whose FA Cup exit was the latest chapter in a miserable season that has seen them knocked out of both domestic cup competitions, the Champions League, while they are languishing seventh in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.

They suffered yet another setback on Thursday with news that striker Fernando Torres will miss six weeks with a knee injury while captain Steven Gerrard is out for a fortnight with a hamstring strain.

If Carlsberg made cock ups.......................

.....then it would come in the form of Liverpool Football Club. They have had a mare so far this season. Hopefully they are going to get a good going over tomorrow afternoon at Stoke. In Rafa we trust to f**k Liverpool up! ::ChELSeAFaN::

I posted this in the nearest and dearest thread but it got totally over-looked, should have known it deserved it's own thread.
