March 30, 201015 yr Yankees  And Aren't Barca supposed to play homegrown players who cost nothing, and play for the love of the game :D
March 30, 201015 yr Read somewhere that the football stats are from the 07/08 season so not sure how ours would look now. We still had the likes of sheva on the books then. Surely citeh will have rocketed up
March 30, 201015 yr Author All data is taken from seasons played or ending in 2009 except for European football clubs: “accounting lag†means there isn’t a full set of data for 2008-09 yet, so figures from summer 2008 are used for those clubs. So this is certainly of limited use. I've wondered before why Premier League wages aren't more publicized. In the US, the media will list every player and the head coach/manager - Salary and bonuses! And since the NBA teams only start 5 players, it's easy to see why their average takes 7 of the top 10 spots. Edited March 30, 201015 yr by ThunderDan
March 30, 201015 yr Don't be silly, Barca only field players who have been at the club since they were 12 and go on the pitch for nothing but the passion of pleasing the fans and the sheer intrinsic pleasure that comes with playing football. They naturally play beautiful football and none of them have ever committed a foul ever, especially Dani Alves.
March 30, 201015 yr Why are RC Bangalore on this list? It's cricket, do they seriously pay that much for cricket? Does the #2 most expensive cricket team even break the top 100?

Always had the impression most squads were on mega bucks . Unless the starting 11 screws it all up

This season, teams are allowed to spend a maximum of $127 million (£84 million) on wages. According to wikipedia, there are at least 46 players on an NFL team. Of these, about 35 will play any given match. 84 mil / 35 = £2.4 mil = not enough to make the list.

March 31, 201015 yr That would be why then !! Thanks for the info . How long has this been in place and are offshore payments an issue ? Started in 1994 - mostly because my team payed a massive amount more money than any other team in the NFL, and won 5 titles in a little over 10 years.

Montana to Rice and Taylor, etc. The NFL salary cap is gone in 2010, due to the expiring collective bargaining agreement. BTW the IPL average is skewed by the fact their season is only 6 weeks long. The other sports are more like 24 or so, so IPL payroll is given about 4x the weight it deserves, using this formula. Edited March 31, 201015 yr by ThunderDan
