I think he'll change it for each game, and probably during some matches too, only slight worry is in the build up we haven't majored on anything in particular or done well for any decent period........................yes the players are adaptable but we need to play to out strengths - so couple key points for me are;

1. don't play 2 out & out wingers as they are too similar, both attack at the same time, and a bit lightwieght - we can't give it away in the middle third like the last 2 matches - answer, if we play 442, pick milner cos he can do the grunt work too

2. dont play frank & steveg together as middle 2, both players want to push on and neither are particularly strong tacklers - yes they can close down and jockey but dont have the bite or the 'sneaky' tap tackles, blocks and tugs which the best sitting players do - like mascherano - answer play one of them, plus a tackler if its 442, or preferably don't play 442

3. don't start with heskey.....................he isn't sharp enuf anymore to get there first - he has to be an impact option at best (or maybe don't take him). Bent is good at running the channels and off the shoulder so needs it long and quick or slipped in - if he plays he need joey or rooney to link the play - answer if 442, start with crouch - leave heskey and defoe as impact options if you need em

4. DO play 442 against USA and maybe some teams if they match up the same

5. DO play 451 (433 when attacking) against the passing teams cos otherwise we'll get overrun in midfield and defence not that good against clever players, also gives chance to play joey and a proper winger so we can hit on the break

LAST POINT - we have to play it fast and aggressive as weather will suit our game, and everyone respects that part of our game - play to our strengths - set pieces, short and long balls - oh and play Joe Hart

cheers

Come on England

That SHOULD be the best team, with the exception of SWP as it seems Capello likes Walcott.

Gerrard can do his Liverpool job, whilst not getting in Lamps' way, and Milner is more defensive than Lamps, so it should work well.

I always wondered why Capello didnt try and turn CCole into a modern (more effective) Heskey to partner with Rooney.

He has the ability, the size, ....really he has it all, it would just take a manager to drill into him the role.

I mean Im not saying he will win the WC or anything, I just think with the right managing/training he could be an even better (and more vitalized) target man than Heskey...and one who might unsettle the other teams back 4 a lot more with his size and pace....in comparision to Heskey.

I wondered the same thing, and I certainly expected him to after the season he had 2 years ago, but after this forgettable campaign, maybe Capello thought otherwise.

The same system/team that started against Ukraine at Wembley when England won 2-1.
