Maksimov Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I just noticed that Chelsea's youngsters are playing for a place in the Milk Cup(junior section) final today. They've played three matches so far and they've won all three of them. They've scored 11 goals and have yet to concede a goal. http://www.nimilkcup.org/?tabindex=23&tabid=3575
Maksimov Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 (edited) Chelsea's youngsters won their semi final 4-0 and will face Cruz Azul's youngsters in the final. They've scored 15 goals in four matches and haven't conceded a single goal yet. Cruz Azul probably has had tougher matches. They haven't lost any matches, but they've played one draw and won one match on penalties and they've even conceded goals. I'm no expert on the youth teams that are playing in the competition, but I assume that Cruz Azul will be Chelsea's toughest opponent so far. It's a big Mexican club, so I assume they've got some pretty skillful players already in that age group. Edited July 29, 2010 by Maksimov

Easy in the end Maksimov,Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners this afternoon, not bad 18 scored and none conceded.First trophy this season may there be lots more.

Planet Drogba Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Very impressive stats. I wonder why there's nothing about it on the official site... Maybe because it's U14? Not sure really, it's quite an achievement.

Bez Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 John Swift looks like he's got great potential, look forward to seeing more of him.
Liam Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Very impressive stats. I wonder why there's nothing about it on the official site... You'd have to wonder about the quality of the opposition. I could probably have played for Dundalk 93 at that age.
dkw Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 You'd have to wonder about the quality of the opposition. I could probably have played for Dundalk 93 at that age. You can only beat whats in front of you. Im sure the players involved arent gonna feel it was a waste of time because they arent the best teams in the world they beat.
Maksimov Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 You'd have to wonder about the quality of the opposition. I did wonder about it, but I also thought that 18 goals scored and none conceded is still an impressive record no matter how you look at it. Especially for U-14 boys because it shows they're disciplined enough to defend well all through the match. If you're better than your opponent, young boys like that can easily lose concentration and you can easily concede a goal if you start being sloppy.
MKBlue Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Very impressive stats. I wonder why there's nothing about it on the official site... Call me cynical if you will, but perhaps it's because there's no money to be made from it.
