After another stunning season with Chelsea FC, Didier was nominated at the annual Golden Foot Awards in Monaco.

The Golden Foot is given as a reward for great performances over the whole career. Not only players are selected for their performances on the pitch, but also for their personality.

Along with Didier Drogba, the nominees this year were David Beckham, Gianluigi Buffon, Smauel Eto’o, Steven Gerrard, Ryan Giggs, Calres Puyol, Raul, Clarence Seedorf and Francesco Totti.

In terms of footballing ability, Drogba could give these guys a run for their money. However if it is based on career achievements, he's a little out of his league next to the likes of Raul and Puyol.

I'd like him to win but he's up against this

Clarence Seedorf-UEFA Champions League (1995, 1998, 2003, 2007)

Samuel Eto'o-UEFA Champions League (2000, 2006, 2009, 2010)

Didnt realise that Eto'o had 4 CL Medals including one with Rea. He must be among the most successful players for his age

I don't understand what the award is for, is it for the individual players ability? Is it for the player that has won the most achievments? Is it for a player that has given most back to the game (not sure how you quantify that)?

It sort of sounds like a money spinning load of old bollox to me!
