Bossi back this month?

Featured Replies

he looks ok.....................at reserve level at least - dunno about his fitness but he is getting stronger in the games, getting his speed back and playing bigger part

so, hopefully get him a few minutes at the end - we could do with his attacking!

be like getting a completely new signing

Chelsea right-back Jose Bosingwa is ready to resume first-team football after a year sidelined with knee problems.

Jose Bosingwa has been building up his fitness with the reserves

Bosingwa, 28, has not played since damaging knee ligaments against Aston Villa in October last year but could be ready to claim a place in the squad for Chelsea's trip to Villa Park next weekend.

Bosingwa is back in training again and could be joined soon by England midfielder Frank Lampard and Ivorian striker Salomon Kalou.

Lampard is working hard to get back to fitness following a groin injury, while Kalou is understood to have recovered from a thigh problem.

Hopefully we can put him on the bench and bring him on for Ferreira (probably) for at least half an hour.

Do you think he will become a first team regular again? I hope so

I would hope so too, but the chances are it'll be a little while before we see him back to his best.

More good news, according to this article, it shouldn't be too long before we see Frank Lampard and Solomon Kalou back in first team action:

Chelsea boost as Jose Bosingwa among trio of players returning from injury

Blues midfielder Michael Essien has urged fans to be patient after the Blues recovered from their two recent defeats in some style.

Chelsea were beaten in the Carling Cup by Newcastle and then Manchester City repeated the feat in the league. But they returned to form with a Champions League win over Marseille and a 2-0 home success over rivals Arsenal.

'The season has started well and although we suffered two losses on the bounce, I believe the team is capable of bouncing back and we showed that against Marseille and Arsenal,' said Essien.

'All I will ask is for the fans to be patient with us when the going gets tough. The season is long and there will be ups and downs but as long as the fans are there with us during the downs as well as the ups, I have no doubt we will be fine.

'We were delighted with how the Arsenal game went. We had to do our fair share of defending but I think we defended well and my only regret is I didn't add to my three goals this season when I had a good chance at the end.

'One thing I will say though is that goals are sweet to score and I want more of it. I will keep trying and no doubt I will score more goals this season.'

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Petr Cech was today crowned Czech Republic player of the year for the fifth time.

Awesome so now we have Lamps, Bossi and Kalou back. Just gotta wait a few weeks for Alex and that leaves Benayoun whose out for a while. Just hope these players can stay fit. I just worry about easing Bossi back in cause if we rush him in he could struggle.

Alex was back in training yesterday, so might not be out for as long as we'd feared.

Always interesting to know just what back in training is. They almost get the guys back on the park a day after surgery these days, who knows what they do. I wouldn't read too much into it, I'd say he'll still miss Villa at least.

On Bossy I have the utmost respect for the work Ivan has done, but Bossy is in another class going forward. He provides so much more particularly as Anelka tends to go wherever he wants. That option on the right adds much more to our play against teams who tend to sit back.

In this case "back in training" means running round the field, as shown on "Friday Night Live" on Chelsea TV. Still you're provbably right about the Villa game. No sense in rushing him back.

The signs were there for the reserves a couple of weeks ago. Even though still not fully fit, Bosingwa looked different class.

I hope Bosingwa is still as good as I remember him being, especially his crossing which was excellent. He'll need to be eased back into the mix, but if he can rediscover his old form it will be a great boost to our first team (no disrespect to Ivanovic).

Can't help but feeling a bit sorry for Ivanovic. When Bossy returns Ivanovic will probably go back to being a backup for Bossy and Alex/JT.

I feel the same, I think Bosingwa needs to fight for selection after the performances Ivanovic has put in during the last year. For me Ivanovic has been one of our key players during this time and occasionally under rated. Sometimes, I think his "get on with it and show no reaction" attitude, lets him go unnoticed, which is a shame.

Ivanovic in my opinion is better than Bosingwa, he is defensively a better player maybe bit as good going forward but the fact that he walked into the team of the year last season prooves that Bosingwa is gonna have to play at another level when he comes back.

I said in another thread sometime ago, I think another one where we hoped Bosingwa was almost back, that Bosingwa should have to fight for his place back from a very competent Ivanovic. I'd rather see us continue with Ivan, and give Bosingwa a few appearances off the bench than force Ivan back onto the bench straight away.

It shows the depth our of defenders when Ferreira suddenly becomes our 3rd choice RB

Ivan isn't as good going forward but is that a big need for us with Ashley Cole on the other side? Maybe it isn't bad having a better defensive option on the right side. I mean goal scoring hasn't been much of an issue.

Still when Bosingwa comes back it will be a blessing. Ivan will slot in nicely as third choice center back with Bossy at RB if needed where we don't have a ton of depth. As it stands the backup is Bruma and fourth choice would be...?
