The Brit Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I don't wish to get in another arguement over Robben (particularly with you Just), but Neil Barnett has written his column on the official website where he details his importance to the team...when the debate last raged I remember Just accusing him of not having an end product or creating goals and yet stats for this season show he is only behind Lampard despite having two spells out with injury... Barnett's tally reads: Lampard 15, Robben 8, Essien 5 He still has things to improve on, but is it a coinicidence that Chelsea looked much more dangerous on saturday with him in the team? Have a read of Barnett's piece, it makes a lot of sense. http://www.chelseafc.com/xxchelsea18070 ... _2209129_2
Maksimov Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Does the 8 include his assist to Kirkland's own goal?

The Brit Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 yes we need him at his best against liverpool for sure
Butch Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 To be honest, I was one of the ones calling for improvement from him earlier this season, but on current form, he is indispensible for Chelsea. He is just about the only player we have with any cutting edge whatsoever, and it is more likely we'll create anything with him in the team than without him. He's looking something like his best again, although he could still improve. Cheers, Butch
Makelele Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 i dont get it really, he shines for holland nearly every game...he definatly has the potential to be one of the next greats, but he just cant seem to stay in our team long enough(be it injured or slipping form) to get on a roll like he did 2 seasons ago...but yes, as of late he has been most dangerous
ColeMan Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Its a bloody shame that his form is so hit and miss, on his day, he is one of the best in europe, let alone the EPL. Even more of a shame, is that Joey will be out all season, Joey and Arjen on either wing, we can only dream of it, unfortunately.
Ragnar Lodbrok Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Robben need to be producing much more he is far better than we seeing him now with Chelsea, well maybe i should be saying this about the entire team....except Essien
Katon Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Robben need to be producing much more he is far better than we seeing him now with Chelsea, well maybe i should be saying this about the entire team....except Essien And Drogba, surely? Depending on how far back your definition of 'now' goes, I'm not actually sure Robben needs to produce much more than he currently is. In his last two matches, he's scored two, set up three, and had a fourth assist wrongly chalked off for offside. He might not be quite up to the standards of his first few months in the team, but I can definitely live with that level of production from my wingers. Even if you want him to keep it up for more than two games (which is certainly reasonable), he'd hardly be the first person I'd complain about at the moment.
