Why did he not play for you?

In general because the man who plays in his position in the first team is the best in the world in that role.

Specifically yesterday possibly because he is still in the bad books for showing up late for the FA Cup tie but also probably because Jose felt he needed Mikel's height.

We really should loan him out, there's no way he's getting more than 5 games a year with us.. I feel for the lad, there is no way he is going to be ready to replace Maka( in 2-3 years time) if he isnt getting any games ..

I could see him taking over from maka next season. I don't know how much longer maka can play at this level and I have even seen him dip in form this season. I say a good run out in some of the pre-season games, and he would be able to challenge for the spot

Agreed Diarra has been groomed as Maka successor , and I think he will become more involved next season (if he stays?)
