The Xmas Feel

Featured Replies

Cant remember if this old cherry has been mentioned somewhere in vintage, but thought it a nice seasonal feeling item

AT WHITE HART LANE WE SAW A STAR

SCORING GOALS PAST PAT JENNINGS FROM NEAR AND FAR

AND CHELSEA WON, WE ALL KNEW THEY WOULD

COZ THE STAR OF THAT GREAT TEAM WAS PETER OSGOOD

.

I shall try not to add these lyrics when i go to a carol service soon

Wasn't there a song to the same tune sung by us about Alan Gilzean of Spurs?

PB, the only one I remember where Gilzean was mentioned was to a different tune, circa 1970...

Arsenal have Radford and Palace have Queen

West Ham have Geoff Hurst and Tottenham Gilzean

But Chelsea have Osgood and he is the king

And also Keith Weller, the king on the wing

Keefy, Keefy Weller, Keefy Weller on the wing!

My mate had the Hymnn 'The Lord of the Dance' at his wedding, and I'm fairly sure the 3/4 Chelsea fans that went were singing 'Carefree'

My cousin Kevin (nothing to do with The Undertones) had the same at his wedding down in Cornwall, virtually everyone there was a Chelsea fan! Bloody song seemed to go on forever.

His dad made it clear that when he died he wanted us all to wear our Chelsea scarves to his funeral, and when the sad day came the chapel in Bodmin was full of blue & white scarves. Great tribute to a true life-long Chelsea fan, the man who got me started on supporting the blues when I was a youngun - my Uncle Pete.

ps - we were all South Londoners, it was just that his side of the family moved to Cornwall in the 60's and stayed. My cousin and his mostly Cornish mates still travel up to games regularly.
