Is it just me or does anyone else think we should be looking at defenders in the transfer window? All the talk is about strikers and midfielders. We need the striker, but with Luiz playing so well in midfield and Terry out injured aren't we thin in defense? With Luiz moving up all we have at the moment are Ash, Ivan, Dave, Cahill, Bertrand and Paulo!? Am I missing anybody? Can Ake play? There's no way to rotate at center back. If Cahill, Ivan or Dave pick up a knock we'll be forced to drop Luiz back which isn't so bad. But wouldn't we be better off if we had another quality defender in the mix. We need Terry back asap, but of course he's not getting any younger.

What do you all think? What's the plan for defense?

We have at least one good quality backup for each position, in some cases two, and plenty of youth prospects... so unless there is a gem to be had I don't think we need anyone else just to warm the bench.

We have Azpilicueta and Ivan at RB, Terry, Luiz, Cahill and Ivanovic at CB, Cole and Bertrand at LB. That's excellent cover for every position. Buying another defender, unless we're talking about somebody quite young like Jores Okore or Matthias Ginter, would be a waste of money.

We have a great defense that Rafa is currently getting the best out of and we still have Paulo as a good backup. We need another striker if anything and a better backup keeper.

Defence is fine, a striker or two is all we need at the moment.

Our last 11 games since Rafa took over:      we've conceded 9 goals and scored 29. 

In Man U's last 11 games:                              they've conceded 13 goals and scored 25.

 

In Man C last 11 games:                                they've condeded 11 goals and scored 17.

 

 

Our defence is fine!  In fact since Rafa took over I'd argue it's been the best in the PL.
