  1. Not sure if this link will work but I'm listening live now. Great interview, forward to approx 45m for start of interview https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000jdw2
  2. Welcome - I'm a Brit who has been living in Oslo for the last 7 years. Still find it depressing how everyone supports Man Utd or Liverpool - especially Liverpool! Remember our cup final against Liverpool 6 or so years ago, the half time studio commentators in Norway were just talking about what Liverpool were doing wrong and what they needed to do to win the game, was so annoying but how it works here! Hopefully we'll get some more coverage of Chelsea in Europa league now the group stages are over!
  3. Wanted to share this story https://www.premierleague.com/news/603469 Mostly because an ex-colleague and her child were featured in a great video with him! Well done Frank - truly a legend.
  4. This always cheers me up. (I was sitting in the Tottenham members enclosure - think I was the only one left at the end!)
  5. If he goes I will miss him, still only 25 and could still get better, but he's never quite achieved what we'd hoped. Periods and matches of brilliance interspersed with too many of averageness. A year ago this would have seemed a bad deal but right now I don't think we'll miss him so much and any player willing to move to China in their prime obviously has money more than matches on their mind. Not that I blame him of course, it's life changing money even for a filthy rich footballer and lots of money for a pretty rich club!
  6. Mixed feelings to the transfer window, would have liked more, a bit more quality - but who? Shambles? Absolutely not - the sad truth is Man City and Man Utd have jumped over us in the spending league (well Utd were never behind us and City jumped over some years ago). Aside from those two clubs I'm not sure any others in the premier league have brought in as much talent. Time will tell - if we end up the season 2 points off the league title because of an injury to a key player we didn't splash out enough to cover I will be disappointed - but it is still above my expectations for this season where I dream of a league title but know it's unlikely.
  7. Think he's more likely to replace Matic... which would be fun! Otherwise we don't really want him bombing forward or backwards or he'll be giving away fouls running back the whole time
  8. I haven't read all 19 pages here so this has probably been said before. But I'm excited as I love Luiz and he's a talented, exciting and passionate footballer with character and leadership which we need - but we also need a good defender and I don't think he is that. Well it's gonna be fun I hope.
  9. Oh yes, those were the days. The arrival of Ruud Gullit and Mark Hughes... next year Di Matteo, Zola, Vialli, LeBoeuf - first FA cup (and trophy) in 26 years - next year league cup, cup winners cup - Flo and Poyet next year third in the league, world cup superstars like Desailly joining. Yes they were memorable Chelsea years when I was 15-19... we still lost almost every game against Arsenal and Liverpool though which was a real downer as a teenager in North London! Still the first two seasons under Mourinho and the double winning season with Ancelloti were something else... yes it's a little bit "boring" when you are disappointed that Chelsea don't win every game 3-0 or 1-0 but that invincible feeling when even when we were losing 1-0 in the 80th minute you knew we would probably win... well it wasn't like that last season!
  10. Look forward to watching sometime. In the meantime this article from 2013 is worth a read! http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/jody-morris-interview-former-chelsea-man-on-the-highs-and-lows-of-a-fascinating-career-8537072.html
  11. I think it would be a nice gesture for fans to be able to volunteer a ticket swap to allow more Leicester fans to see the game... always plenty who don't turn up and I'm sure there are a few Chelsea fans who would be willing to give up their seats... but logistically it will just be a pain so it will never happen. No doubt there will be smatterings of Leicester fans across the ground and hopefully they behave themselves and stay quiet until the end! Nb for those posting here asking for tickets... no season ticket holder is going to sell their ticket to a random away fan. If the away fan gets turfed out for sitting in the wrong end the home fan can lose their season ticket (though that's not such a punishment right now!)
  12. Play youth but make sure we beat Tottenham and preferably beat Liverpool and Man City too.
  13. We all remember the hype around Leon Knight and more recently Freddie Adu... you can look at this list and see how many have made it household names. http://www.goal.com/en/news/3376/goalcom-youth-football/2011/01/01/2284652/goalcom-hot-100-the-young-stars-to-look-out-for-in-2011 I shan't be losing any sleep over Quina - well until he scores the goal that knocks us out of the Europa league group stage in 3 years time.
  14. Great article. Obviously I'd rather we end a season with some silverware but if we're going to mess up best to do it in style. I "gave up" on the season around December, still hoping that Champions League or FA Cup were possible but not expecting. Obviously I still watch every game hoping for the miracle, the spark that makes it all worthwhile but those moments have been too few and far between. I'm not happy celebrating 4th place like Arsenal do every season but at the same time I remember fondly how things used to be before the silverware rolled in - lots of fun but I don't want to go back there. Time for team spirit and the spark that Dennis Wise (ex crazy gang) passed to Desailly passed to John Terry to return to the bridge. I don't want us to be Barcelona, I don't want us to be Arsenal, I want us to be Chelsea - a team of fighters and winners. That goes for the supporters too, too many who have the sense of entitlement that makes me get so fed up with Liverpool and Arsenal supporters.
  15. So sorry to read this, what a beautiful little girl Aimi is in all the pictures. Sending love and strength to your family.
  16. Good luck Leicester - we have been out of the running for so long I'm not sure how anyone can say this season was the best chance for us to have won the league... there have been many seasons recently when we could/should have won it but this one we have never even been close to it! I expect there will be a great atmosphere for a last game of the season if Leicester are on for the league (which sadly isn't a given) would love to be there. I imagine a majority of Chelsea fans would stay to join in the celebration and I think it could be fitting for Terry to present the trophy if it's his last game! Would actually be nice if Chelsea fans started a push to get a bigger ticket allocation to Leicester (maybe fans giving up their seats for away supporters). And as has been said Ranieri is popular at Chelsea. Anyway there is a long way to go soon and there are still 4 teams in with a chance.
  17. We either need to demolish them or we likely go out - can't see them not scoring against us so we will need to be beat them well or get a 2-1 and take it to penalties.
  18. You can ask these guys if you haven't already http://chelseascmalta.com/ According to the Chelsea website they have 145 members - not going to keep the bar full everyday but good luck! http://www.chelseafc.com/fans/supporters-clubs/europe-list/supporters--club12.html
  19. I think we can beat them at Stamford Bridge... but winning the competition is only possible if Hazard as well as the rest of the team can perform some magic - we still have too many weak links
  20. I don't think we necessarily need an English backbone but a backbone of players with leadership and strong personalities. I think it's one of the things we have missed most this season even with Terry around. Ideally it would be good to have some youth players or British youngsters but we can't expect even a mega money buy like Stones or even Pogba to just come in and take on Terry's role (in a leadership sense). You just need to look at Arsenal to see how many crap captains they have appointed in the time Terry has been around. We only need to think back to Desailly (and Ballack and Drogba) to remember that a captain/leader doesn't need to be British but needs to be special. Right now I think the only ones we have are Ivanovic and Costa, maybe Cahill and I would have liked to say Matic but he's disappeared somewhere this season. Costa ain't gonna become captain - Ivanovic is getting on and like others have said is not Terry. William seems to be a grafter but not a captain as far as I can see. I think the best we can hope for is a Terry extension and a good handover to someone next season - maybe one of the youngsters will step up, maybe Zouma, Loftus Cheek or Traore will be the man in 2 years. I think the club will have to buy some backbone next season, no idea who or how but let's see!
  21. I have fond memories of that day. My Tottenham supporting mate took me with him to the Spurs member enclosure - we were the only two left at the end and he wasn't happy I made him stay to the end!
  22. Funny that the Paul Hughes came into my mind as well... he scored 2 that day I believe, his only goals for the club. So my nomination is Bjarne Goldbaek
  23. One of those legends in passing. Everyone loved him because he tried and did things that others didn't have the guts to. Was never Gullit or Leboeuf but his long passing was loved and a a tall lanky Englishman that tried to play sweeper was a novelty!
  24. I think everyone is letting their imagination get in the way here. How people can call Carneiro publicity seeking I don't understand, she neither made a statement nor posed for pictures. She is trying to get a settlement for what she believes is being put in a position where she was no longer able to go back to work at the club for whatever reasons. I think claims that she was sleeping with a player are both stupid and disrespectful, she is newly married and if she had a relationship with a player she would have very little case for constructive dismissal as she would have broken one of the major rules for a doctor. It is interesting her barrister is one of the leading medical law barristers and that would lead me to assume the club were questioning Carneiro's competence (maybe Mourinho's comments to the media). Otherwise I would have expected she would have an expert in employment law. I don't really understand the hatred towards her from all the fans who thought she was amazing before. She hasn't joined Arsenal or Spurs, she is going through a legal battle which is probably highly stressful from her side. I assume she is doing this not for the money or the attention but because she feels like she was wronged by the club. She may of course be wrong in this, the club obviously disagree because they have offered no settlement and they are taking it to the next stage. Such is the legal system, it exists to resolve unresolvable disputes. I just hope the end result isn't too bad for Chelsea. Making mistakes with dismissals is something all companies of all sizes do - I don't think it's particularly terrible of Chelsea if they have made a mistake (except for the person concerned of course). Hopefully there are no allegations proven of sexism from Chelsea.
  25. Don't know why I'm bothering to write here... but we can be almost certain these rumours are all rubbish because Carneiro is in the process of taking Mourinho and the club to court for unfair dismissal. If she had been sleeping with a player they would have every right to dismiss her for unprofessional conduct and she would be a fool to sue no matter how good her lawyers are (very good).
