The most impressive and the most pathetic away support at the Bridge

Featured Replies

The day Liverpool beat us 5-2 at Bridge in (if memory serves) 1992 they had a pathetic turn-out. It wasn't typical of them, but I remember the Shed singing "you must have come on a Skateboard" to them. Bobby Campbell was manager at the time.

Millwall always brought 1000s to ours - the night they knocked us out of FA Cup on penalties, in the Fulham Road, before and after the game I've never seen so many away (and gobby aggressive ones at that). In the days of supporters being held back after games, and police escorts out of ground, mass singing in the Fulham Road by away fans wasn't unusual - but that night sticks in my mind as complete un-policed anarchy and mobs of away fans literally everywhere!

The 5-2 was 89 . In 1992 they actually had the whole Northstand Shipperley scored for us.

Most impressive support I have seen at the bridge was Plymouth, worst was Hull City on the night game that had the most rain I have ever witnessed, both circa mid 1970s.

...but could they do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke?

Always thought Portsmouth made an effort in the early 80's for (I think) either the Boxing Day or Easter games.

Loads of firms and a good turnout, all in their Sergio Tachini, Pringles and dear stalkers
