I was just looking at the backroom staff pages on the main CFC website. I knew Eddie Newton and Jody Morris were at the academy but I had no idea that Tore Andre Flo, Paulo Ferreira, Andy Myers and Jon Harley were all there too.

I can only imagine what it must be like to be a pro footballer, even at academy level, but to go in every day and see some high profile ex first teamers who have been there and won decent medals must be very inspiring.

Cant help but think somebody like Dennis Wise could do a job some where at the academy, he had a good record as a manager.

Would any of the current fist team be suited to an academy position in the future?

It wouldn't have to always be about football skills, guidance on dealing with agents, money, big crowds, loss in form, respect for officials and your teammates, fans and the public. The list of life skills that can be passed on is endless.

Zola needs to be involved in training the youngsters.

Zola needs to be in charge of training the youngsters, in all aspects of football and what it takes to be a decent man.

it wouldnt  matterwho was in charge  of the Academy  when  the First team coach  won't use them .

I think Didier and Frank can do a good job at training the youths if they take up coaching.

They'll be a great influence on them.

JT has already been clocking up hours for his coaching badges so I expect him to have more to do with the academy soon.

Hmm, I can't see anyone in our current first team taking up a role in the academy apart from him and maybe Dave and Ivanovic.

The current academy proves how difficult it is to pick out current players that will make good coaches. Anyone that saw Andy Myers play regularly would have told you that he'd never be a coach, yet he's really well regarded.

Who would have thought that Eddie Newton would end up overseeing youth development at Chelsea?
