Posted May 6, 200718 yr Now i know Chelsea handed out the Chelsea flags in this seasons Champions League but i've got to say i hate it when clubs (Newcastle, Man City, Preston North End, i know theres more) give scarves out to all their fans. I've always associated it with the Spanish or some other European fans that have no idea how to create a vocal atmosphere. I mean just imagine yourself waving that thing above your head and trying to sing 10 men went to mow or any Chelsea song for that matter. Thats why the Europeans only sing vocally simple songs cause they're so busy trying to enter Earth's atmosphere. I'd hate for Chelsea to do it next season. I think its so fabricated. Granted so are the flags and i don't particularly like them either, but i think this 'scarf thing' looks sh*t and false. Thats my rant over and i just hope Chelsea dont follow suit.
May 6, 200718 yr I kind of like the Italians style with one fan belting out something with a bullhorn, and with everyone else following suit. Pauly???

Countries like Poland have a really good visual and vocal atmosphere at their games (they do also have knives and guns). It's hard to do but I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, it's a cultural thing. The gripe for me is that the flag-thing smacks of plastic, Anfield-style faux-Ultras behaviour.

May 7, 200718 yr I kind of like the Italians style with one fan belting another with a bullhorn, and with everyone else following suit.Pauly??? We used to have that kind of support Phillip back in the 70's and 80's. I like the flares. I think they're naff. I wouldn't wear them to a football match.
