I'm really not too fussed as to why he wants to leave. If he stays I'll be happy we're retaining the services of one of our top performers in recent seasons. If he goes I'll be relaxed thinking since he wants to go, it's about time anyway. But here's another thought (which for the record I am not in any way saying is anywhere near the truth): maybe one or both parties decided to keep quiet about it deliberately. If Frank had come out and said "I want to go to Inter", they would have the upper hand and would offer us 3m. By keep quiet it benefits both Frank (signing on fee) and Chelsea (transfer fee).

To me this stopped being a rumour from the second or third day of Mourinho taking over at Inter, with no denial at all from Lampard. And no one has complained about Lampard not coming out to deny this, which I think shows many are resigned to him leaving. I don't mind, and have been prepared for his departure for two seasons :wub:. What we must not do though, is let him go for much less than what we paid for Deco. If we let him go at, say, 8m, we would have spent no money, gotten a comparable replacement, with a one year contract extension, at probably lower wages. Not a bad deal, if Lamps has his heart set on leaving.

I think what we will see will probably be what we've become familiar with. Quaresma was reported to have said he has "signed for a big club" but will only disclose it after his Euro involvement. Personally I wouldn't take him for free. Andrea Pirlo loves Milan and Milan loves him. They stuck by him when he was developing even in his early twenties and sent him out on loan for I think 4 seasons all the while extending his contract, one of Milan's biggest investments. He is to Milan/Berlusconi what Alvaro Recoba was to Inter/Moratti, except local and better perhaps. Pirlo will stay until the day Milan expressedly say they do not want him.
