Posted May 21, 200718 yr Just thought I'd warn you not to bother with buying any Monday papers for your souvenir scrapbook...every piece I've seen has criticised Chelsea...amazing isn't it?...we win the game, united lose, yet we still get slammed...just imagine if we'd lost no chelsea fan will say it was a great game, but it takes two to tango and utd were just as defensive as us and yet somehow it's the same old 'boring, boring chelsea', and utd the victims...still as I said elsewhere, fuc* em, we won the cup and no matter how hard they try, they can't take it away from us!!!!!!!!!!

Not entirely true, Brit. Kevin McCarra (of all people) is quite fair in the Guardian today, I feel. He blames United equally for the lacklustre final, but finds a few good things to say about both sides. I have to say, though, I have not bothered reading tabloids in any shape or form since I was working for them myself some 20 years ago! Pondlife! (I wasn't a journo, thank god!) May 21, 200718 yr It is all a bit riduculous though isn't it. We play 1 up front, with two wingers, its condemned as being defensive. They play one up front, and two wingers and it's lauded as attacking. We deny United the space to play their counter attacking game, and so utterly nullify 'the greatest attacking team in the Premiership', and somehow we're at fault for ruining the spectacle of the game. Rooney aside, their attacking player did pretty much f*ck all, and we score a beautiful goal to prevent the lottery that is penalties, but somehow that is STILL not good enough for many of the journo's. What exactly were we supposed to do, allow the them space to mount decent attacks for the sake of the neutral? It's just complete b*llocks if you ask me. ONe of the comments below the article stated that we weill be remembered for playing negative football. Will we f*ck. We will be remembered as the team who won the first ever Cup Final at the new Wembley, as the team that won back to back Premerships, and as the team that broke countless attacking and defensive records whilst doing so. Bottom line, we were the better team, so we won the game. It's really that simple, and fortunately for us, no amount of media whinging and sniping will change that entry in the history books.
