Journalist Help: Anthony Taylor and Chelsea

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’m a journalist currently working on a book chapter for Penguin Random House about the relationship between fans and referees. I'm telling this through the lens of Chelsea supporters and Anthony Taylor — how this relationship has developed over the years, why it runs so deep, and what it reveals about how fans experience refereeing in modern football.

I’ve already spoken to several match-going supporters, but I’m looking to hear from more fans — especially those who:

  1. Were at some of the key matches (e.g. 2017 and 2020 FA Cup finals, Tottenham 2022, Bournemouth away 2024);

  2. Remember how the atmosphere felt before, during and after those games;

  3. Can talk about what Taylor’s appointment feels like as a supporter, both online and in the stands;

Conversations can be as short or as detailed as you like, and everything will be handled respectfully. You can speak on or off the record, and of course you can remain anonymous if you prefer.

If you’re up for a quick chat (phone, Zoom, or messages), please reply here or DM me. I’d really appreciate it.

My number is +447725029154, if you want to message or call.

Thanks so much,

William

Hello William, I can't remember if Anthony Taylor made any high-profile mistakes when officiating recent Chelsea matches, but he has been accused of making 21 costly decisions in Chelsea matches prior to now. GivemeSport has an article which shows some of his decisions which have cost Chelsea in big games.
