The "visionary" Mr Blatter is chewing over the idea of India hosting the 2018 World Cup.

When I think of Indian sport , cricket, hockey and kabaddi (Channel 4's finest sporting hour-the producers should be knighted!) spring immediately to mind. Football doesn't.

Is a decade long enough to kindle the the national interest and build the stadia required? Hmm...over to you Sepp.

Firstly, I have to say that in terrorist terms, India is WAY too close to Pakistan to hold any kind of world cup (cricket aside).

And secondly, I would've thought China would've been the perfect 'new frontier' to hold a world cup in?

Like to see terrorists get in and spoil the party there.

Is that another idea for a screenplay?! What's Cantonese for Die Hard 5?

Ah yes, I'm thinking of going with the title: 'Boom Boom, Beijing' icon_wink.gif

Having been there a couple of times I would question it in terms of a decade long enough to get ready, both times I have been the poverty has shocked me.

IF they can get financial and logistics support and it brings in much needed commerce to the country then I think it is a good thing. But you can only see the middle class to wealthy Indian's benefitting from hosting the world cup.

they could drum up interest no problem, premier league football is very popular .. had so many wanting to talk to me when I wore my Chelsea top.

All in all a good idea, but practically a load of FIFA arseholes. For one they are unlikely to have the stadia, the interset and what if a cow walks onto the pitch! We'll have to re-enlist Setve Bull up front, no-one will go near him icon_wink.gif

Plenty of terrorist actively in the UK at the moment, does that count us out for 2018? However point taken although I don't want to live in a world where we have to pander to the terrorists. The moment we do that, they've won and we've lost.

So what? It doesn't matter if you hold it in India or f**king Greenland, if terrorists want to attack then they will.
