don't expect many replies to this but just annoyed how so many pundits/journos have suddenly marvelled at swp's form...all these pieces saying he has come from nowhere etc forgetting the fact he actually made quite a breakthrough in second half of last season, played regularly and scored a few and set up a few crucial goals....that laid the foundation for sunday's superb performance, plus a good pre-season, not a dramatic unexpected return to form...just shows a lot of people don't know what they're talking about and yet they get paid for it!

That's the way it works around here. When you're bad we boo you, when you're good everybody loves you and can't wait to see you on the first team again. So I would say that a player goes through a "we love you, please don't go" phaze and a "I can't believe we payed so much, sell if we have a chance" phaze with us at least 15 times per season.

He's been improving all the time. He was great sunday, but when opponents start to notice him more and put lot of pressure on him we will see how good he really is. I hope he gets to play regularly and challenge Joe Cole.

As someone already said in some post SWP's defending just isn't enough against bigger teams it seems. Birmingham was the perfect opponent for him to play.

We will see bad games from him this season, that is for sure. Hope not too many though.

For me SWP has taken a leaf out of Joe Cole's book. Joe didn't exactly set the world on fire in his first season and could have taken the easy option and gone elsewhere. Instead he knuckled down, listened and learnt and went on to reap the rewards up until his injury last season. SWP has shown the same kind of commitment for me and is now beginning to reap the rewards for his hard work and willingness to learn from the master that is Jose.

The tail end of last sesason was enough to show anyone with an ounce of footballing sense, that the kid may come good. the pre-season again showed more of the same, and by all accounts the game against Brum solidified his talent. It ahs been a long time coming, and I for one will hold my hand up and say that I was sceptical of his ability. Felt he stood out in a mediocre team, but still not convinced we wern't raked over the caols on his price!

Anyway, we see pundits talk utter garbage week in week out, so why should this be any different
