Will Carlo be making an appearance tonight?

Or even for the game on the weekend for that matter?

I'm guessing the answer is probably not. As much as I love the guy, do you think it's time we parted company with him? I've no doubt you won't find a better goalkeeper that'd be willing to play second fiddle to another, but I can't help but feel sorry for him as he's still easily one of the best goalkeepers in the Premiership and deserves to be playing week-in, week-out - and maybe this would aid in his attempt to get international football somewhere too (I'm guessing England would be a better bet than Italy, and whilst it's a complete longshot, I'd still rate him above any other English goalkeeper, even David James who I rate very highly).

... or do you think he'll see out his career at Chelsea?

If he wants to stay then there is no way we should part with him. We have a top drawer back up keeper and if he is contentin that role then we would be cutting off our noses to spite our face if we moved him on. The international point is not really relevant as he has stated on a couple of occasions that he never had any intention of representing England and he was never going to oust Buffon as Italy's number one choice. He is 34 now and will probably still be playing in three seasons time and until such time as get a young keeper on the books who we can trust to fill in for Cech when required we should hang onto Carlo and even offer him a new contract if he wants it (not sure when his current one expires).

if carlo stays to the end of his career then i will love him for it. if he goes, then i`ll thank him for everything hes done and wish him well in the future. hes been the model professional while here and for me is a chelsea legend. not just for the way hes played, but for the way hes handled himself. could teach a few players a thing or two (gallas, diarra etc)

Carlo rocks. But he is way too good to be a #2. I too wish he'd just go. Enjoy 5 years being #1 somewhere else and end your career on a high! Don't just sit there and take the cash. You're too good for that.

We can always buy another #2 keeper. But Carlo deserves better. He's on the same page as Zola for me, as someone who wore a blue shirt and was the absolute model of a professional footballer.

I'm pretty sure his current contract expires in 2009.
