Pauly Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Well we're here again, that time when you're clearly finished, but opt for one last dip in the pool of competitive football. That's correct, i'm back, with all my one touch passing, mazy runs and lack of any fitness or finish to make use of it all. some say i should have taken better care of my boots, to those i say... f**k you! buy your own boots and take care of them. I work hard for my right to neglect my soon to be famous boots. these actually lasted around a season and a half... which is not so bad considering the amount i used them and never took care... I hate these new plastic boots and can't wear them, adidas, nike... yuck. Are there squads that are sponsored and have to wear certain boot types? i would hate that...
midlandblue Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 well you certainly got good millage out of them, not surprising really for a linesman.
Pauly Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 the most famous linesman in all of trieste thank you!!!
just Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Pauly, when I was playing I used to have my boots paid for by the club. Two pairs a season. Moulded and screw-ins.
Barn Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Pauly, it just seemed obvious that you'd have a knakered old pair of Lotto boots!
Maksimov Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I've taken good care of my last two pairs of boots and and I've already got almost four summers worth from both pairs. I bought Puma King SL Turf and FG, because mostly we were playing in this park, but the 6-a-side tournament our team was involved in was played on this artificial turf type of thing, so I needed boots to play there or else the studs on my FG boots would be worn down in an instant and they'd been worthless on all surfaces. Got them both on a discount(about 50-60% off as I recall) because I'm a Maka sized player and Puma's biggest junior sized boots are just my size. The junior sizes are cheaper and for some reason practically no one else seems to buy those boots in that size(especially the turf boot), and they were last season's model when I bought them. Best piece of business I've done when it comes to sporting goods. They're the best football boots I've ever worn! They're VERY light, apparently very durable and they're VERY comfortable on my feet(and were right from the start). And as a bonus, they're really classy looking boots. Black, very basic looking leather boots, with just a white Puma stripe on both sides. I had to buy a new pair of Futsal boots because the Adidas boots I bought were utterly useless(felt horrible on my feet even after a fair bit of use). I was in a hurry and had time to visit just one shop so I figured I'd go for Puma boots, since I knew their boots fit my feet well. The only Puma futsal boots in my size that they had, were AGAIN dirt cheap(on a big discount), but they're bright red! Oh well, at least they're good boots, even if they look horrible. Well it's mainly just the colour, because the design is quite basic otherwise.
Pauly Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Pauly, when I was playing I used to have my boots paid for by the club. Two pairs a season. Moulded and screw-ins. wow that is nice... we get free sausages, food, drinks... one guy got a watch once but i think he paid someone off (with 10 years service....). I could never wear studs... hurt my poor little (but wide!) feet. they pay our insurance and registration and all that... plus money if you're in the seniors on contract... but i think i'm more likely to be paying rather than receiving for my efforts this time. When did you all stop playing? Would any of you wear these stylish (i feel) black boots with green trim, or are they a little too fancy boy for you english... I assume Loz looked like this when he had a full head of hair and was playing: "I don't wanna play for Spain!" Maksimov- i loved those lotto boots. i could never stray from pure leather....... I think once you find a brand you stick with it. I have a wide foot, hate plastic, hate only a few studs or blades on the bottom of my feet because of the pressure... so my choices are small:) as for this... Pauly, it just seemed obvious that you'd have a knakered old pair of Lotto boots! these boots are actually in reasonably good condition- i've played with tape forming at least 60% of other, less fortunate boots for the last few games of seasons...
Liam Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 When did you all stop playing? Would any of you wear these stylish (i feel) black boots with green trim, or are they a little too fancy boy for you english One of my main contributions to my team was my tackling ability, in the days when a touch of stud-raking was not only permissable but encouraged. The tackle from behind was a great art form for any self-respecting centre-half and it was a source of great disappointment to me, and my central defensive partner of 12 years, when it was banned. The change of rule on the back pass was bad news too. At the slightest hint of trouble we'd just turn and knock it back to the keeper. All this passing out of defence stuff was for girls. I couldn't have worn those boots above. It just couldn't have happened.

I have a wide foot, hate plastic, hate only a few studs or blades on the bottom of my feet because of the pressure... so my choices are small:) Those Lotto boots look good. Well not so nice in their present state, but they still look like a nice pair of boots. The King SL's I have are both proper leather boots. The futsal boots I have are made of some fairly leather-like synthetic material(not sure what it is exactly). They also have some plastic bits around the heel to make the boot more sturdy. They're the first boot I've had that have the asymmetrical placement of the laces, which I was slightly sceptical about, but now that I've used them once(going again tomorrow) they seem alright. The design is pretty simple, although it is a bit more modern than on my turf and FG boots. The Adidas futsal boots I had were pure leather, but for some reason they just didn't fit my feet at all. They felt alright when I tried them on at the store, but when I play football...they just feel so uncomfortable. Even after a fair bit of use.
