Rangers win the CIS Cup on Penalties

Brief summary for the Gers fans out there.

Rangers beat Dundee Utd 3-2 on penalties after the score was 2-2 after extra time.

Utd will be gutted as they led Rangers twice, once in normal time to be pegged back by a Kris Boyd equaliser in the 85th minute (thanks entirely to a dreadful pass back by the otherwise man of the match Mark Kerr). Up until that point Rangers had huffed and puffed a lot but never really looked like creating much other than one good chance for the invariably ineffective Darcheville which produced a cracking save by Zaluska. Utd then went ahead again in the first half on extra time but again it was Boyd who pegged them back this time with 7 minutes to go of extra time when he did really well to get his head on a deep cross.

And to add insult to Utd's injury it was Boyd that scored the decisive penalty.

I tellyou who has impressed me a lot since he joined Rangers on loan from Fulham - Steven Davis. Rangers will be desperate to get him on a permanent deal and I am amazed that he couldn't do a job for Fulham.

The Rangers quadruple just got a step closer. Celtic knocked out of the Scottish cup at home by Aberdeen. A classic sickener - Celtic bombarded the Aberdeen goal for 99% of the game, missed chance after chance and half way through the second half Aberdeen, in a ridiculously rare attack scored the only goal of the game.
