Posted May 1, 200817 yr Didier Drogba would like Chelsea head coach Avram Grant to play Nicolas Anelka alongside him in a 4-4-2 system. The Ivorian has expressed his frustration with seeing such a great player as Anelka languishing on the bench. The France international himself has revealed to his country’s press that Grant has told him he will change his tactics next season in order to include him in his starting XI but does not want to change things before the current term ends. Drogba fancies playing with his fellow French-speaking striker as he believes their partnership will be promising and remove some of the burden from his shoulders. "I ask for one thing, to play with Nicolas Anelka,” Drogba told L’Equipe. “We understand each other very well. "I feel frustrated for Anelka, he has already proved his qualities at Bolton. “But the coach wants to keep a 4-3-3 system - he has his own reasons. "I have always scored more goals in a 4-4-2 formation. “Being alone up front is very difficult and tiring.
May 1, 200817 yr to be fair he said how much he enjoyed playing with sheva last season and how it helped him get his 33 gls...it makes sense, as instead of fighting defenders on his own, he had someone else there to create more space...anelka showed again last night what it could be like if they played together, great assist, but grant won't change to 4-4-2 this season now and didier will be off in the summer
May 1, 200817 yr Is there anybody here that doesn't want 4-4-2? That is one thing I blame Jose for. He stopped using it, even though he had an excuse as I remember, all of our wingers were injured at one point. But after when we clould have used our wingers, he still went on with 4-1-3-2's and 4-3-3's. I think Makelele could be the one causing the mix-up. 4-4-2 is by far the best option.
May 1, 200817 yr This constant debate regarding formations frustrates me. A top team, full of world class players coached by a...erm, cough - top coach, should be able to adapt through a number of systems rather than sticking to just one. 4-4-2, to 4-5-1, to 4-3-3 and that's not just throughout a season but if necessary throughout a game as the situation requires.
May 1, 200817 yr maybe worth a try for the last few games of the season, we can always make the change at half time if its not working
May 2, 200817 yr Changing 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 would hurt: Malouda, Kalou, Joe Cole(?) and SWP. They could only be brought in times when we are down and need more players up front. Joe is more than just winger so he could take the number 10 role in our midfield. He has the ability. It would be benfitial to: Drogba, Anelka, Sheva, Pizarro. All these 4 attackers would love it and for three of them it is crucial to get back on their scoring days. Lets face it, we got three world class strikers who can't produce because of 4-3-3. We are so wing minded team that only player like Drogba can make it work for his benefit. Team's success is more important than individual success but which former 30+goal striker is happy to be 10 goal man suddenly.
May 2, 200817 yr Well, in my opinion, 4-2-4 is the best formation for Chelsea. Here's what I mean by it... -----------------------------------Cech----------------------------------- --Essien---------------Carvalho-------------Terry-----------------A Cole--- ---------------------------Ballack------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------Lampard---------------------------- --J Cole------------------------------------------------------------Kalou--- --------------------------Drogba-----------Anelka-------------------------- Don't you think we can kill off any team with this, provided everyone is at their best? And, no Maka is required if Carvalho and Terry are alert enough.

May 2, 200817 yr Yep, it is, but Joey and Kalou are more of forward players, so I decided to call it a 4-2-4. You can still call it 4-4-2
May 3, 200817 yr I'd like To Try and see if a fluid 4,1,3,2 would work,i know another permutation of 4 4 2 but hey Cech An Other ......... Riccy ........... JT ......... Ash Essien J.cole........Lamps....Ballack Nelks ..........Drogba
