If we do win today or next week, and we dont go on to win the Prem, we will set the record for the highest points total for a team finishing 2nd in the league, which stands at 83 points. So lets smash that record and push it up to 87 points.

I think 83pts is a record we already share with some other mickey mouse club.

No we dont, Arsenal & Manure hold the record.

To do that, we need to put a stop to Newcastle's record against us at their place in the Premiership. Just saw a stat that we haven't won there in the Premiership since 2001.

To push the record to 87 points we most definitely do have to win today.

I think it would be the first time during the Premiership era, but not sure about the whole league history.

Arsenal won on goal difference in 88/89 if i remember rightly ?

Hmmm...of course. The season when they had to beat Liverpool by two goals in the final match of the season.

Just checked a site that has the league table from that season and it says that Liverpool and Arsenal were equal on points and their goal difference was the same(+37), but Arsenal had more goals scored.

I think it's not us but Man U who will set the new record next weekend at Wigan for finishing 2nd with 85 points. Congrats in advanced, Man Ure
