loz
I know that there is a weighting toward Rangers on here but the passing of Tommy Burns at the age of 51 surely transcends any footballing rivalry. Tommy Burns was a football man in the way that most of us are. He talked football, breathed football, lived football and loved football to an extent where the fact that it was the thing that he made his living out of was just a fortunate bonus. I spoke to a good friend of mine just a few days ago who lives in Kilmarnock and is Burn's Godson and he told me that the treatment Burns had had in France hadn't been successful and that he was very worried for his Godfather's life. I must admit at the time I didn't take him all that seriously and today when I spoke to him again at about 10am and I heard the pain in his heart I remembered that phone call and I thought how stupid I had been. He was a very private man who never placed his own burden on others around him. It is remarkable that even people at Celtic were expecting him back at work soon such was his ability to be stoical and hide his suffering. Today we say goodbye to a good man and a member of the wide footballing family.

clubhappy
Good call Loz , regardless of who anybody supports through any religious divide , im sure there are those who will see life as it really is and what its about. Davie Cooper , great footballer and his passing was dealt with respect by the Celtic fans i know here in Dublin, i have no doubt that Rangers fans will treat Tommy Burns with the same respect. R.I.P. mad_mac
I truly wish him and his family all the peace in the world at this time. Regardless of affiliation or football, this is a footballer and a family we are talking about. RIP Tommy
Lofty
He talked football, breathed football, lived football and loved football to an extent where the fact that it was the thing that he made his living out of was just a fortunate bonus. In other words, a genune, old fashioned, proper football man, who like so many from previous eras, will be sadly missed. R.I.P.
