Typical Media Hype

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli has played down rumours linking him with the manager's job at Chelsea.

Prandelli, along with Roma's Luciano Spalletti, is the latest name to be linked with the vacant role at Stamford Bridge after Carlo Ancelotti pledged his future to Milan.

Chelsea have been frustrated in their attempts to bring in a new man as they seek to find a replacement for Avram Grant.

Prandelli has done an impressive job at Fiorentina, helping them finish in fourth and qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Reports have suggested Prandelli has impressed Chelsea officials, but the Italian says he has heard nothing from Chelsea.

"I know nothing about Chelsea's interest in me," Prandelli told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have not had any approach personally. They are just rumours that are pleasing, but nothing more."

Skysports are the joke, not Chelsea, they cant help themselves, that ^ is just utter garbage sports journalism, but a brilliant example of "if their is no story, we'll make a story".

Coco - I posted a comment on their Points of View thingy about this very thing - but when Spalletti was mentioned. Needless to say, it was vetted and didn't get published! I wonder why.....

Let's face it, while we are all berating the board and Kenyon or Roman or whoever about this situation, nearly every name pushed forward has been invented by the Press themselves. But even the Guardian took up the Spalletti turns down Chelsea story this morning. It is clearly SSN's intention to make it look as though no one wants to join us. God - it's becoming so transparent, it's pathetic! Perhaps one name and we would swallow it. Now they're just getting silly.

I posted a comment on this very thing on their website. Needless to say, it was vetted and didn't get published. I pointed out that the Spalletti story 'broke' on a day when apart from the Hughes business, Sky Sports had to divide their time between Wigan's new pitch and Celtic's new away strip!
