Thinking back to the Cashley saga and the current gossip... when does approaching or talking to a player, stop being an approach and start being a tapping up ?

Of course. When Chelsea do it, it's tapping up - it's bloody disgraceful, the only way to stop the bar stewards doing it is to DOCK POINTS, MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM. When the Mancs or even more so Wenger do it, it's all down to contacts, a superior scouting network, amd a prudent financial policy. And When it's Real doing the tapping up, it's a God Given right.

Wenger poaches Anelka from PSG before he signs a full pro contract...£250k, and Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona before he signs a full pro contract, £500k = Wenger is a genius.

Chelsea poach Woods and Taiwo from Leeds before they sign full pro contracts = "Chelsea think they are above the law" (a quote I recall at the time from Man Utd loving journo Steve 'twat' Curry!)
