My sunday league division 6 knowledge tells me that torres was winning flick ons and bringing our creative players into play, It also tells me that he was a big part of the reason they kept giving the ball away and couldn't start moves. I'd also say he created a our second goal with a good pass into ramires who finsihed brilliantly. He didn't have many chances but there were a couple of times and one time in particular I remember where he was waiting at the back post for a tap in but hazard chose to shoot instead and blazed it over.

Would say I'm baffled by the reaction to his performance tonight but I'm not as we have been here about 40 times before. Anyone who knows anything about playing in big games as a lone striker will tell you he did a good job for 65-70 minutes tonight and contributed to a good team performance but people who don't will tell you he was useless and contributed nothing.
 
The last 20 minutes he tired badly and was dreadful but that's why there is a manager on the sideline who should be seeing this and replacing him with some fresh legs who would of contributed far more in those last 20 minutes than we actually got. The last 20 minutes will stick in peoples mind the most which is a shame.

Based on games where both have been available for selection since ba signed it is currently 16-9 to ba on starts.......

Did you watch the game last night? His positioning was woeful.
 
Whilst he has got better from last year Luiz is still the weakest CB we have IMO. Just hasn't got the discipline to stay where he should be and hold a line. And that hands behind the back thing drives me nuts. Has he ever actually stopped any crosses or balls being delivered when he does that? Not that I've seen.

Zorres > Torres

All central defenders would struggle a bit when playing against a player like Aguerro, esepcially when the defensive cover (DM) they have playing in front of them is pretty much non-existant.
 
Cahill was clear MOTM for us on Sunday and on Chelsea TV last night they highlighted he has blocked 42 shots for us this season. I think the next highest was Ivan on 11. Cahill isn't as good as JT or Carvalho or Gallas when they were at their peak but he is still a very decent defender and they all had the luxury of having Makalele giving them extra cover when they were looking their best.

ehh? Small squad is exactly what everyone has been crying about. He is right. We have played more games than any other team this season. But the players arent exactly helping the case by drawing against Brantford and thus being forced to play an extra game.

Also of our 4 CBs, JT is the only one who is left footed. 

surprised to see the tone of this thread and singling him out...all the defenders have been below their best this season...cahill did seem to be effected from the start when he was clearly made third choice behind JT and Luiz...he has not hit the heights of last season since, but who has?
Today I thought he was superb, apart from standing off Yaya Toure a bit too much before for his goal, but as he'd saved our arse many times, can hardly blame him for it....

We were crap today except for Cahill who was fantastic. Credit where it's due.
