If Cahill would have done what Luiz did on Saturday then people would say 'that is the reason why he will never be a world class defender'. That despite the fact he has been brilliant so far this season.
Yet because he isn't as good attacking wise as Luiz he isn't as good of a defender? I don't understand? What more does Cahill have to do to prove he should be playing? The England set up can see it.
I like Luiz, I think on paper his attributes are fantastic, but I have to say when Gary Neville said 'he looks like he is being controlled by an 11 year old on FIFA' I couldnt agree more. He's 26 now, how long is it before potential becomes a waste of time.
there isnt another defender we have that would have got there, last minute against arsenal at home anyone? ive been saying it for ages. But then against Benteke did make him look rubbish.
Would anyone be interested if Hernandez came available, quality striker proven in this league depite never getting a proper run of games, always scored goals, would link up well with mata, hazard, oscar etc... id rather have him than Rooney!
I think Luiz would be a quality centre back in most of Europe, Spain especially. It suits him a lot more, the premier league is more physical, and you have to be a lot tighter! That said he is still considerably better than he has been.
I think before Rafa, Cahill was immense, he has definitely not been the same since, but then again doesn't that apply to alot of our squad?

at least until Luiz is a bit steadier at the back
We have a team full of superstars, and are one of, if not the most successful team trophy wise in the last ten years. Yes he makes bad decisions, and yes Benitez is a useless knobhead. But we are the champions of Europe, I think people need to get off Roman's back a bit. Get rid of the dead-weight and next season could be as good as any we have had!
